I love Ryan and Summer fics. They have so much in common under the surface, and they're both deep characters. I just wish this were longer, because it's good.

I know this is practically ancient, but I just read this whole fic and wow. Just WOW. It's going straight to my favourites. It was so well written, and you had both Ryan and Summer down perfectly. Ryan reacted to the whole Dawn incident exactly as I would imagine he would, and that ending was absolutely heartbreaking.
Up to chapter 11 I was about to commend you for the portrayal of a platonic relationship too, with Summer's "no big deal" attitude at sharing a bed, but then the comfort sex happened. And why I see what you were doing there, and it was enjoyable to read, it still sat a little off with me. Ryan also felt slightly out of character when he opened up to Summer, like he was sharing too much for his standard. But what he said needed to be said, so oh well.
Overall, great, great fic, one of the best I've read in a while for sure!

I have read and re-read this story and it is my absolute favorite OC story,maybe even my favorite on the whole site. I love dark and twisty, as dark and twisty as that makes me... And your stile of writing is so beautiful, it sneaks in and breaks your heart before you figure out it was there. AJ scared the crap out of me, which was the point yeah? The horrors of Ryan's childhood, the way you were able to delve into the characters in so much detail. You painted WHY which was amazing. Please write a sequel, poor Ryan doesn't get away this easy...happy writing and hope to hear from you soon!

I read this for the first time a few months ago. I recently was thinking about the O.C and was trying to find out what episode the events of this story occurred in. Apparently, this story is so great that I assumed it was an actual episode. Well done, this is amazing!

Best OC story I've ever read. I loved every word in it, everything fits perfectly wow Congrats! It had just the right amount of drama and friendship and your description of Summer seeing herself in Ryan sometimes was just dead on.

Other than the Summer/Ryan sexcapade (becuase no matter how much I enjoyed it, it would've never flown in the series) that was the O.C. episode that never happened...that should've.

Whoa, that was an amazing story! I like how you went into Ryan's past with all the sexual stuff, too, and his reaction was definitely in character. I feel so horrible for him. I think the second to last line in the fic holds so much meaning. This whole story was amazing.

I read this story at three o'clock in the morning, and it still made sense to me. You've really added a lot of detail to Ryan's past and your A.J is one of a few fictional characters that I wish I could reach through my screen and strangle, except then he'd probably kill me. I like that Reno didn't turn out to be this romantic thing in the hotal room, it really was just for comfort. Yes fluffy clouds and roses would have been nice, but this fic was a dose of realism that I much enjoyed.

that story was the most amazing thing that i have ever read. the characters were perfect, it wasn't over dramatic or underdramatic. summer was summer like and ryan was ryan like and it was absolutly perfect. i loved the ending with summer talking about her mom, telling seth not to be mad at ryan, and about picking the other family members in your life.

I really wish that all the Summer/Ryan interaction written here was actually potrayed on the OC itself - there are hardly enough moments shared between the two. :D

Overall, this fic was written beautifully. I really liked how you developed Summer's character to begin to try to understand Ryan and his past.
