HarmonyWinters chapter 1 . 6/6/2009 This took my breath away. We can't always choose our path in life...how lovely that Allura made the best of her situation. I haven't read your work before...I'm so happy I found this. You are very talented. It's in my favorites now. :) |
Mellow Penelo chapter 1 . 4/10/2008 I really enjoyed this. I really love the Doomites (they crack me up, and they're so much more interesting than the V-Force), and I'm a big fan of A/L and I really wish there were more fics out there about them. Anyway I liked how you portrayed their relationship. Realistically. While Allura has a forgiving heart, there's no way she can ever completely forgive all the things Lotor has done in the name of his *selfish* love. It's such a doomed (no pun intended) relationship, I can't help but love it. You really feel for Alura in this fic. Life as she knows it is torn from her. I really liked this line: "Allura remembered how as Lotor took her virginity, she cried out—not tears of pleasure or physical pain, but at the loss of her dream, the loss of her prince, a prince by deed and soul rather than title like the one who had his way with her that night." I also really loved this: "Living in Castle Doom Allura learned quickly just how cruel and dysfunctional Zarkon’s relationship with Lotor was, and that Lotor’s father was a large part of the reason why Lotor was the way he was. It did not excuse it, but it did explain it." Anyway, you have allot of great ideas here. Though your sentences are kinda a mouth full. One sentence has so many ideas in it, that I kinda had to pause, digest one of the ideas, read another idea, pause again, and then finally get to the period. That was another thing. You seemed to skim over really interesting points. You simply told the reader about something and moved on, instead of stopping and developing it, illustrating it. I think it would have been a more powerful piece if it was more descriptive. I'm a sucker for dialog, so I really would of liked full memories and conversations between Lotor and Allura, but that's just me. Oh, I also really like the ending. It was so wonderfully bittersweet. It was also simple and powerful. Just the way I like them. Once again, I really enjoyed this. |

NepenthesMiranda chapter 1 . 6/8/2005 Excellent, succinct tale of "what may have been". You've captured all the darkness and gloom of Planet Doom I always thought the show only hinted at; and Allura's perspective regarding her new life and her relationship with Lotor is more than believable-very well-written. Congratulations on a job well done. |
