Romen chapter 1 . 5/22/2005
I liked this, a lot. It was kind of sad, but in a way very beautiful. And you're right; I was a little mad too. It was like he'd forgotten all about her, you know?
FrodoFever chapter 1 . 5/20/2005
Very good, though the story could have been longer. Tell more of why Balian (I assume that's who's thinking these thoughts)is thinking about this. Maybe consider writing if he feels betrayed when he's with Sibylla. Just a few suggestions, but good job anyway.
Red Cloud Phoenix chapter 1 . 5/19/2005
I loved your story, especially how you used silk as a special characteristic for each person. i don't know how to exactly explain, but in your story silk is a kind of protection. That's the better word. For the last two lines: "If it proves to be enough, God has willed it so, if He wills it, it will be enough", i was a bit confused on that part. What do you mean when you say "it"? Interesting story.
Era Daven chapter 1 . 5/19/2005
I love how Balian's memories and emotion were triggered by that one simple piece of cloth and then blended into his fears of their future. Your comparison of something thin such as silk is like a person's courage or actions you conveyed clearly and aptly; this evident most in the line 'It {the gown} is beautiful and practical, but it is fragile. It will not protect her from being swallowed up by politics and ancient debts, as a desert sandstorm can swallow a man whole. Perhaps a better life could have saved his wife' and in the references to the king. I would love to see more KoH stories from you. You are talented to be able to visualize such deep feeling from something so insignificant.
Doc M chapter 1 . 5/19/2005
This is good, and picks up well the theme of Balian's line about "a few yards of silk" making a nobleman.
