This is so cool! Been reading it for the past 3 days. This is great. Love your characterisations and imagery. Vivid and evocative. The unravelling mystery pulling one along throughout. The budding romance between Smith and Aleph was very sweet (and full of understandable misunderstandings.) Definitely the best Matrix fanfic I've come across. I dearly hope a sequel is still on the way.

14 years ago. 14 years ago, my Dear Lovelace, you have started writing the “Awakenings” at FF dot net. Lately, you have reloaded the story on AO3.

I’ve been a loyal fan of yours for all 14 years - and I patiently await the sequel.

“Awakenings” is one, if not the, best Agent Smith story out there. It is so beautifully written, the dynamics between Smith and Aleph are very believable and the idea of a circle within a circle, a prison in the Zion Archive HF 12-1, the reason why Smith is so, well… Smith and of course all the subtle romance and sexual tension between the two of them, it’s all taking our breath away. “Awakenings” is a very intelligently written piece.

Year after year I come back to “Awakenings”, year after year I reread the whole story, year after year I am still amazed.

Dear Lovelace, I truly hope that you will finish dusting off the “Awakenings” and cleaning it up a little - and then, finally write a sequel.

Because Smith and Aleph, there are not really free, aren’t they? They are still trapped by the Merovingian and The Powers That Be.

While the world outside the Matrix is ending, and perhaps the Matrix itself is soon to be dissolved.

And what of the romance between Smith and Aleph? Will he, a former Agent, fall for a former human? Can he? Will she?

Please don’t let us wait another 14 years, Dear Lovelace.

Please make a sequel. You are ready.

I've been re-reading this for awhile and I just have to say it's as amazing as it was the first time around.

Still holding out hope for a sequel, though ... no pressure :P

Read it in one go and i have to say only that its Freacking Magnificent

This story was so beautifully written and poetic. I enjoyed it more than the sequels to the original. The original character had me from the getgo and the romance with Smith was incredibly believable and well, romantic. I especially loved Aleph's younger sister. Her whispering in her ear constantly, along with the conversation she had with Smith in the desert of the real. Loved it.

I was also happy to learn you added elements from the Animatrix, which is my favorite animated film of all time. I was grinning like an idiot, to be honest.

This is the first part? I wonder, are you still constructing the second and its taking a little long or should I not look forward to a part two?

This is a fabulous story. It has been around three years, so were is the sequel? You did say the journey would continue. Besides this story is very well written with amazingly portrayed and written characters. Also this story has had a fabulous plot so far. I miss your writing. Please at least make an author's note explaining why you stopped writing.
