And it makes the mistake most time travel fics make - if a person went back in time by a significant amount it is unlikely they would be able to stomach being around their former love who would essentially seem to be a different person wearing their face. Especially in this case as there were several years before meeting for any feelings to cool off. I personally can't see ranma feeling that strongly for someone so abusive as it seems to me most of his feelings for her come from feeling obligated to feel something for her.
