Wolvmbm chapter 4 . 5/24/2008 I must say that this series is interesting me so far. :D I know little bit of info about the heroine Dr. Light and her small history with the JLA. Nice Wonder Woman cameo in the beginning and also great fight between the two Dr. Lights. I have never seen her children before, but I know that they were mention several times in the comics. So I truly do think that this is an okay family bonding time for them to endure. :D I also hope for somewhat more stories that features some team-up with her superhero friends, Like Batman or Superman or anyone else that she knows. :D Keep up the good work as I hope to see more stories within the future. ;) |
Dante de Troy chapter 1 . 12/6/2005 Okay, where to start? First off, I applaud you for attempting to bring more to what I have always considered one of DC's better underused characters. However, I think that you've done some things with her that don't necessarily stay true to the character. Kimiyo Hoshi was always portrayed as rather reserved, not prone to humorous outbursts or even very overt displays of emotion. While some people might call that a caricature of her native culture, I always found it both endearing and a quality that made her exceedingly unique in the DC universe. She wasn't angsty, she wasn't pensive, she was simply... there. I feel after reading this chapter, where she comes off more like Spiderman giving the occasional Reed Richards dissertation, that that quality has been diluted. In your attempt to make her exciting, you've pushed her into a mold that most comic book characters have been cast from, rather than letter her best qualities shine through. I'll keep reading, but I always appreciate first impressions on my writing, so I always offer them as well. |
Icha chapter 3 . 6/19/2005 This is cool! Glad to see Kimiyo returned. It's so fun to 'play' with Japanese stories these days, now that we have internet! And it's such a coincidence that we both use monks within Yakuza stories (well, mine in the Black Snow is a former-Yakuza monk, and yours is a former-monk Yakuza - LOL!). I emailed you about Katana/Tatsu Yamashiro. Did you get my message? Thanks! |
The Uncanny R-Man chapter 3 . 6/17/2005 Yet another wodnerful chapter. The Yakuza are up to something. They don't stand a chance. Heh. Now the Hoshi kids have powers, huh? I wonder how Kimiyo will react to that... Also, I'd like to thank you for reading 'Uncanny Superbuddies' which I co-write with L1701E. You will also be pleased to hear that Kimiyo will be making an appearance too. |
The Uncanny R-Man chapter 2 . 6/17/2005 Oh yeah! Kimiyo kicked Arthur's butt! Good job too. He really made a fatal mistake hwen he threatened her kids. I'm glad to see that somebody had the guts to do it. Can't wait to see what happens now that Kimiyo has all but resigned from the League. |
The Uncanny R-Man chapter 1 . 6/17/2005 Bum-bum-bum! Dr Light Vs Dr Light! 'Nuff said! Man, Mimiyo is a badass. She even had time for a science lesson while she wa sbeating up the ba dguys. How cool is that? Can't wait and see what the Hoshi kids are up to as well. |
Dan Ingram chapter 3 . 6/16/2005 For some reason, I've always enjoyed reading about the more intelligent and harsher heroines and Dr. Light certainly fits that bill. The arc is off to a cool start, and it's nice to see her kids haven't been forgotten. Children these days, what are ya gonna do? Anyways, good story. The offer to join our growing fanfiction group is always open, btw. It's a good way to interact with other writers and is awesome for feedback. In addition, you'll have your fanfiction series posted at two well traveled sites. borntoxceed at yahoo is me email, so feel free to drop me a line ;) |
Faye Chua chapter 2 . 5/31/2005 This is a wonderful story about a little-noticed character... so many times I've mentioned Dr Light and she always gets mixed up with the villain. I'm glad that you've written such a great story about her, and hope to see more in the future. |
Dan Ingram chapter 2 . 5/10/2005 Thus far, I have to say this is an interesting series about one of the lesser known characters of the DCU that certainly doesn't lack for quality. With that in mind, would you be interested in writing at a group fanfiction site? If so, drop me a line at borntoxceed at good ol' yahoo. |
Icha chapter 2 . 5/10/2005 Yoi! Great! You have made a nice ending and a good fight for Kimi (gee... I didn't even know that Arthur Light stole the costume from Jacob Finlay!). And it was very good for you to use real Japanese romaji words. Makes it more real. Banzai! |
Phil Urich chapter 1 . 5/6/2005 Very good first chapter. I'm interested in seeing how she got her powers and more about Tokyo superbeings side of business as well as her relationship with doctor light. I look forward to more |
Icha chapter 1 . 5/2/2005 Lamont, this is super! I mean, Light! I mean... great! I've been wondering about Kimiyo Hoshi for a few weeks back after reading ID Crisis, and now am glad to find a very nice fic about her. Have you been in Tokyo before? You used 'chan', 'Shibuya' etc well. I don't know if you can answer this here, but I just wanna know the official version of Kimi. I understand she lives in Japan (Tokyo, then?) and she is an astronomer. But other than that, we kinda lost her since a few years back. I plan to use her as a character in my story, but pre-ID Crisis (so, without the evil male Dr. Light). Thanks, and more, please... |
Peter Gilles chapter 1 . 5/2/2005 Brilliant start to the story! You've captured Kimiyo's character almost perfectly. I can't wait to read the next chapter. |
