Reviews for Duty

Hey, very very nice! I really enjoyed reading this, it seems as if you got Auron's character down nicely through his musings. Great read!

Very well written. Gives what I believe could be an excellent view into the mind of Auron. Quite an impressive piece.

Very nice, some parts were slightly confusing, but it still fit in well. I liked how you mingled the poem in there, it was a nice touch. Ja~

I don't think I'll be able to do this justice, but your writing demands that I at least try.

You worded it perfectly, all of it. The innate cold cynecism, the half-sarcastic laughter at himself, the tear between duty and honor and life. It was precisely perfect. Auron, a man of so few words, each one so perfectly placed. I have yet to find (even in what I've written) a more perfectly placed internal dialogue. It is so true to his self.

It's easy to write Auron from the outside looking in, to capture the silent impassive figure, the uncomfortable sharpness of gaze, the set of shoulders. It's infinitely more difficult to look through his eyes.. especially first person.

For the first time, I feel as if I am Auron.

You can probably tell, he's what drew me most into FFX. We're so darn similar, and I can't decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing. I can't claim to be half his equal, but there are times... that odd bittersweet feeling. It's terrible, but it is the way it is supposed to be. The inner torments make them who they are.

Alone, ya?

The ending was so perfect... that last, single-worded line, put to such a lie.

“And miles to go before I sleep.” I murmur, reflecting that, while I had little use for poetry as a whole, occasionally, it got a little something right.

...perfect. Exquisitely perfect. That faint tint of Robert Frost... the line captures it all perfectly...

and leaves me wordless, a silent figure, gazing through the looking-glass, seeing the glimmer of a specter of a Legend now familiarized.

For that... thanks. More than words can say.

This is *gorgeous*. You captured what could have been Auron's inner thoughts just perfectly, I think. Thank you for writing it.

The little bit at the end, wondering at Rikku's true reasons for not entering the Farplane, is a great touch. Another story there, perhaps?
