Reviews for Something Is Missing
Japonicune chapter 1 . 1/28/2012
Wow, I have only just come across this story years after it was written and I have to say I do think it's highly-charged and works very well translating from the cartoon capers to a realistic take on the subject. Kimber and Stormer are a huge fav of many fans, though there is a strong case for Stormer/Roxy as well. I enjoy stand alone short stories that are asstrong as long novels for their detail and effort. Very interesting read.

Ruka-Roxy83 chapter 1 . 3/25/2008
Very interesting. I like Kimber and Stormer together. Never thought about Stormer and Roxy together. I have seen a pic of Jem and Pizzazz together but I just do not think that would work.

In response to the review from NepenthesMiranda, below:

First, it is unfortunate (seriously) that you are "disappointed" that my work sometimes "ends in femmeslash". I love writing about women and our relationships with each other. It's a fascinating area to explore. I wonder why you find it disappointing. Perhaps femmeslash is simply not to your liking, perhaps you have a discomfort with the subject or a bias. Whatever the case, there are a lot of hetero-pairing fics in the Jem realm for you to enjoy.

Writing about female pairings it is *not* at all limiting - there is a rich spectrum of material to write about in the realm of female relationships. Women’s relationships are important, valid, and serious subjects for exploring. I am only scratching the surface.

I have to wonder why you feel the need to question what I write about though. I would not review one of your fics and write that I am disappointed that you "limit it so adamantly to weaving tales" about the Stingers. What you decide to write about is what you decide to write about and if it ain’t someone's cup of tea, then that's that! Me, I enjoy writing about women - as friends, as partners, as could-have-been partners, etc.

But to answer your question, yes I have written beyond female pairings. My X-men fanfic contains many in-depth explorations of opposite-sex couples. Also, have you read my Jem fic "Survival of the Misfits"? Aja and Craig's relationship factors in *very* prominently. “Survival” has *no* prominent same-sex couples. So I believe you are mistaken when you say that I “limit (myself) so adamantly” to writing about female couples. Additionally, I will soon upload a new Misfits fanfic that does not contain femmeslash. However, I will continue to write and upload femmeslash as well.

By the way, let me turn the question around to you and ask whether you also step out of your comfort zone and write about something new for you? (Such as a gay character, presuming you are straight yourself?) Writing about opposite-sex pairs was challenging and new for me, but turned out that I liked it! You might find the same thing if you open up your mind to it.

P.S. - Thank you for the compliments on my writing voice and sense of the language.

I'm trying to find the right words to phrase this review: I think I'm a bit disappointed that all of your work seems to end in femmeslash. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you have a strong sense of the English language, your writing voice is powerful (especially what I've read in "Farewell"), and yet you seem to limit it so adamantly to weaving tales of angsty female love and determined Misfit couplings. Do you write original stories of your own devising that broaden the spectrum of your talents? I'd be interested to see how you approach some other genres with your pen-you seem to offer a lot as a writer, but it is presently so limited by this one medium.
Kanna-Ophelia chapter 1 . 4/11/2005
Poor Kimber... I almost felt sorry for her. "I think you're so cool, Stormer" - such a baby. This is a really intersting take on the whole Kimber/Stormer thing, and I love that you take into proper consideration that all the "friends forever" stuff really wasn't enough to keep them together.

Beautifully written as always, and the ending is simply perfect.

Yay Stormkpr! I liked this take on the Stormer/Kimber relationship-acknowledging that perhaps the potential was there, but that it might not have worked out with a sunshine and lollipops ending. Well written as always!
