Guest chapter 25 . 1/5/2016 Purupuss, this is the second time I have read this and I enjoyed it just as much, I have actually read all your stories in the Thunderbird Silo and really enjoyed them, you have a great feel for the characters. I am sure I will get to more of your stories as I work backwards through the fan-fiction. I have rekindled love of Thunderbirds with the new CGI series. |
KVD chapter 25 . 3/8/2015 Another truly brilliant story. I do love how you capture the characters |
Kirsten chapter 25 . 6/17/2014 I just read this story, and I loved it: it was so well written and the plot was well thought out and coherent! Well done! |

Darkflame's Pyre chapter 25 . 3/24/2012 This was very well written; a great plot, and Virgil's angst was really well conveyed. Love the bit at the end with Scott and Virgil going back to their childhood. Really well done! Xx |
JOTRACY123 chapter 1 . 7/3/2011 this is good |
StupidChinaBook chapter 10 . 12/24/2007 um Virgil comes before John |
Fay.Rosewood chapter 25 . 11/3/2007 Oh my god, so I just finsihed this story and I have to tell you with all honesty that I am truly in love with your writing! My daughter found your story earlier this week and we have been doing read aloud sessions of it every day sometimes late into the night, you really get your readers on the edge of our seats its hard to stop! Your grasp of the characters is really obvious in the ways that you had them react and how Virgil saw them when he couldn't remember who they were. Having a character lose their memory can be a hard thing to pull of because it can so easily become cliche and cheesy, but your personal style and well thought out plot prevented that. Fabulous work, and a favorite for sure! |
Chemical Girl chapter 25 . 8/5/2005 Wow this was a truly amazing story, I loved the way Virgil felt really insecure that is how I would imagine it would feel, even though as you pointed out, you can't imagine how it must feel. Enjoyed every minute, especially how you always managed to include a bit of humour to break up the story. Hope to see more of your work. |
Lorency chapter 25 . 7/16/2005 This story is one of the best stories I've ever read. It got angst, fun & sarcastic comments, sadness and a happy ending. Awesome writing! peace out |
Almath3a chapter 25 . 5/6/2005 great story wiating for more stories from jou |
LMCofTIC chapter 25 . 5/5/2005 Purupuss, I did read EVERY chapter, though I stopped reviewing simply because my computer CRASHED very badly, and I had to rely on my roommate to print every chapter out for me on a daily basis! Anyway, I have a few extra minutes at work, and wanted to make sure I did give you some final, parting thoughts on this story. In the circles in which I personally travel (with regards to TB fan fic) there has been discussion about Virgil-with-amnesia being out-of-character, and that was the biggest piece of constructive criticism I'd heard. Now, we all know that if you are completely unable to remember who you are to the point where you don't even know your favorite foods or who your family is, you're going to act very differently than you would if you DID remember some things. But I'm hearing it argued that even if a person doesn't remember facts and figures and feelings, it doesn't change the basic personality of that individual. For example, in this story, Virgil was extremely suspicious and very, very afraid most of the time. The real Virgil, the one with all his memories, isn't like that at all. So if a person forgets everything Virgil forgot, does that mean he will no longer be brave? Is that really a trait that gets passed down through the genes, or can a brain actually "forget" that its owner never acts like a child who's scared s**tless? Because I am neither a regular medical doctor nor a psychologist/psychiatrist, I don't believe I am qualified to tell you that Virgil was out-of-character. After all, who am I to state that if he had the amnesia you described he would not act like that? I don't think anyone other than a brain/mental expert could say with any degree of certainty whether or not this story was realistic in that aspect. Indeed, even those who are considered experts might be wrong because we know so LITTLE about the human brain, and we USE so little of it, that I don't think ANY of us should go off half-cocked stating that it's unrealistic...that Virg would NEVER act that way no matter what. Just because we want that to be true doesn't mean in this particular situation it would be. Debunking of naysayers aside, my personal opinion was that I did get a bit tired of Virgil being so paranoid and so suspicious and so frightened, but only because it just felt like it was never going to end. HOWEVER, Purupuss, that is not necessarily a bad thing. Truth be told, I was feeling just like the rest of the family did - trapped inside a nightmare that seemed it would not end happily. So in actuality, you did what you were supposed to do: you brought me right in and had me feeling like everyone in the story felt. I was right there with them, at times frustrated, saddened, surprised and in disbelief. So truth be told, I think you accomplished your mission. One thing I really, really wish had been better explained, or at least addressed even if no final explanation was given, was not only what caused the amnesia (I never got a clear picture whether it was because he hit his head or if it was the emotional trauma or what). At the very least, since you did spend time doing a wrap-up/aftermath bit at the end, I would've like to see *someone* trying to figure out why he could remember how to walk and talk but couldn't remember how to eat with utensils or read words. Like I said, we know SO little about the brain, I wouldn't expect you to provide a complete explanation, but some sort of hint would've been nice. :-) The only other thing I want to mention that seriously takes me out of the moment when reading your fic are the words you use that a Tracy would never use. There are some distinctly non-American words spattered throughout the story that jerk me right out of it and back into MY world (where I don't wanna be at that moment, lol), which means loss of continuity as I'm reading. It might not even occur to you that they wouldn't say "get you sorted" or "Gerroff" (I have NO idea what that means, btw), but to me having grown up in the Midwest where the Tracys are from, it just whacks me up side the head immediately and I have to work to get back into the story. Okay, so oops, I'm not done yet. One more thing. And this is it, I promise! I don't believe that any of them would have wanted to play a practical joke on Scott or anyone else after what everyone had been through. No matter how I tried to think about it, I could not fathom them doing that. And I *definitely* can't see Jeff participating, or Grandma. I also feel that even if Gordon tried it, Scott would've ripped him to shreds for it. Scott was seriously traumatized by all this! I cannot see anyone doing the practical joke, that just did not work for me. THAT I did feel was OOC. Just remember this is all my own personal opinion, there for you to take or leave. I have to say you are one of my favorite authors, I am ALWAYS looking forward to new stories from you. So keep it up! No more dry spells, please! :-) |
Vorserkeien chapter 25 . 5/1/2005 nonono it can't be the end :( but at least its a happy end :) & it's a great fic :D :D :D ~Vorserkeien~ |
darkhelmetj chapter 25 . 4/30/2005 I've been lurking everday as a reader with this story, and you haven't left me disappointed. The concept of amnesia is an interesting one, especially when you analyze the relationship that it leaves between those who are as close as brothers. :) I truly feel that you've tapped into something special with this story, and you've shown how something so traumtic can affect more than one life. The characterisation was wonderful; the plot was excellent. The end result? Breathtaking. :) Thanks for the incredible read, Purupuss. PS I think I shall be taking a page from your book, and will learn to finish my stories completely before updating. ;) I can see now, after having fresh material to read everyday, why it is so great for readers. :) |
Tikatu chapter 25 . 4/30/2005 This has been a wonderful read from start to finish. I'm sorry that it's over; I got used to the daily update! The ending was as satisfying as it could be: Virgil regains his memory, they play a prank on Scott (don't know how he could have missed the constant "Brother" references), then some good memories and some wholesome fun. |
