In reply to your reply, Lady, yes, that is how they die. The first book - and movie - sequel to Ring (or "Ringu") is Spiral, the one I was refering to. Sadako comes out of the TV, I'm guessing, because she always had a kind of obsession with TV. She was able to control it with her Nensha abilities (the power that lets her burn images into videos, pictures, and people's minds). That explains why she made a video and why she comes out of the TV.
