Incredible. I don't have words to describe this story so I'm just going to say that it was painfully incredible. I loved how you ended the story so realistically. Adored the little twist about Harry Hant, I even gave a little gasp. I was mortified by what he did but you ended it just perfectly.

So, I gotta say. Fanfictions that have a strong focus on original characters ordinarily do not hold my attention or interest very well. But this story has been thoroughly enjoyable and intriguing. Awesome job! There was a lot of content to think about, and it related well to Holmes and Watson's situations. Almost allegorical. Again, cool!

Already the first chapter has gotten me hooked. This is brilliant.

Beautiful. Sublime. Exquisite. I cannot praise this work enough. Every time I began reading another chapter, I forgot until the end that I was not reading one of the original books by Sir Doyle. As someone whose hobby is analysis of writing in style, plot, and plausability, I congratulate you. Short, yet rich in detail. This story is one which I shall save, print, and put beside the genuine article on my bookshelf.

One of the points in particular that you have proved your skill in, is your characterization of Holmes. Most fanfictions that pay attention to the era and the writing style, still fall short on that most salient of points. Yet your Holmes is as he should be: proud, apparently impassive (yet with those delicate cracks in his otherwise flawless mask), determined, brilliant, restless, and enigmatic.

I consider myself a writer on the high end of skillful, yet I know that a tribute this well crafted is beyond my reach. (And believe me, I do not say that often. In fact, I think this is the third fic I have ever read that I did not think "I could have done this better." I am, unashamedly, a proud young woman.) It is the gems such as this that keep me browsing the archives. Well done.

And I love that last rambling from Alice Thurlow- And Helen is a wonderful character- I can't imagine forgiving her father the way she did.

I know I've read this before, read the whole series in fact, so I'm very surprised that I seem not to have reviewed or added you to my favourites list. (Which made finding this fic again a bit of a bugger, frankly!) I'm guessing you have it archived somewhere else like LJ? Anyway...

Awesome. Well written and with wonderfully well rounded OCs, particularly the loathsome but pitiable Mr Arthur Thurlow. I'm looking forward to rereading story two now.

You've done marvelously well in keeping all of them in character. Although... I kind of noticed that there was no mention of Holmes' keen observation skills on how he deduces a person's personality or background based on his/her physical appearance.

Also, I have this strange impression that this story doesn't really revolve on the issue of the Thurlows, but really more on Holmes' own personal development as a man with "feelings".

Anyway, I'm gonna go read the other stories now.

Oh my goodness... This made me cry... And my god you have an excellent way of writing! Helen Thurlow hasn't made an impression on me just yet despite that tear-jerking reunion, but hopefully in the succeeding chapters (and stories if this fic is as interesting as the past chapters suggest) I might be able to grow to love her as much as I love Holmes and Watson.

That was amazing! Seeing as I had nothing to do today, I figured I should sit down and read this. Needless to say, it was well worth it!

Although I've read only a few short Sherlock Holmes stories, I think you kept them perfectly in-character, and I am quite in love with Helen. And Alice. And Mr. Thurlow... He tore my heart out several times during the story, but maybe I'm just being overly-emotional, haha...

And, gr, I suspected Harry. I was happy at first that I was right, and then trying to read faster than I actually can to see what would happen next.

Bloody fantastic! I haven't read your other stories yet, but if they are as good as this one, you should consider trying to get them published. I just finished reading a fairly well-known Sherlock Holmes pastiche that has been widely published. It will remain nameless, as I thought the writing and plot was not what it should be, to say the least. I consider myself a well-read person with decent sense of literary appreciation, and I'd just like to say that The Forfeit Daughter put the novel I just read to shame. Seriously. Get published.
