This was great. I have watched The Sting a dozen times because I love that episode so much and this story you wrote was exactly as I had pictured Fry during Leela's coma.

Cute, but one note; I don't think the doctor's would say that she'd be in a coma for 48 hours to a week. Usually they give you the worst possible senario... so I can see them saying "She might never wake up", not "Maybe a week or so". But I do like it. Good job.

Kudos for being brave enough to post your interpretation. There are some minor errors, mainly that the doctor/PE crew seems to know that Leela will eventually wake up, even though in "The Sting," Amy told Leela that the doctor thought she might never wake up (unless you're going to bring that up later, in which case, you can ignore my nitpicking).

I'm interested in seeing where you take this. I'll be keeping my eye on this story.
