Reviews for Birthday Traditions 5
Guest chapter 6 . 5/19
I agree with you, the show is wonderfully snippy on its own, subtle and not in your face, which just made that whole Pete/Kerri fiasco so much worse.
AgentKalGibbs chapter 5 . 1/15/2018
“If you can't look like an absolute idiot with your best friends, then you need new friends.” This is so very true!
AgentKalGibbs chapter 1 . 1/15/2018

mgamberger chapter 6 . 7/31/2011
Amazing! I loved this 5. year.

I've being reading ffs quite a while now, all of them being shippers. Sometimes I wonder why I (or we for that matter) love so much to read shipper fics. Anyway, there is one line you wrote for General Hammond that is one of the lines (if not the most), which I read in all the ffs I already read, that describe so well a relationship between 2 characters that can't be together. It is so beautiful and so sad at the same time:

"But I see a man holding everything he wants and knows damn well he can't have".

Thank you!

But I see a man holding everything he wants and knows damn well he can’t have.

OMG! That was so sad! and so very true. I'm enjoying this series of stories very much.
Dreamer22 chapter 7 . 5/9/2008
very well done, I greatly enjoyed that, though what does 2364937 mean?
smithcrafter chapter 6 . 7/7/2007
I'm enjoying this entire story, but this chapter is something special. I loved Gen. Hammond's comments to Jacob while Jack and Sam were dancing, and Selmak's comment in return, about George's intelligence. Consider this a review for the entire story through this chapter.
Nikki chapter 7 . 1/21/2006
What do mean 'not sure about this one'? This was brilliant - loved it - thought it was really funny - esp teal'c, LOL! And the whole 'interrupted' thing, LOL! Again, another wonderful addition to the series - can't wait to read the next! :)
Emerald Green Queen chapter 7 . 1/17/2006
I loved the beginning of the story. It was so sweet, how you showed the friendship that exists between Sam and Daniel... especially given how the next year things won't be the same. I thought the necklace sounds beautiful... even if Sam's birthstone, is, technically, an emerald and not topaz.

I loved hearing about Magnet's progress! She sounds so gorgeous! And I'm very amused that she listens to Sam better than Jack. And their little 'custody' arrangement... but it does make sense, given the fact that they're off-world so much.

Nice time together, despite being rushed. Um, about the DVDs... I really doubt that those trilogies were available in their entirety at the time, which at a rough guess would be early 2002. I don't remember the release dates for LotR exactly, but I know for a fact that the two Matrix sequels didn't hit the cinemas until that year, the final being late 2002. Still, cool movie choices! and Cool presents all round.:) I thought the albums were fabulous!

I laughed about Jack freaking out about Sam's dress... hmm... Cassie is still sneaky! But maybe not as evil this time around!:)

Interesting story idea, having a great big party with everyone invited. Though not as personal, I think it's a good idea, at least once.:) And the more distractions, the less trouble from Jacob!;)

Don't give anything to Maggie to eat? Yeah right, I'm sure everyone's gonna listen to that!

LOL, I thought it was amusing how Sam gave Cassie her way, and let her go meet Dominic at her place. Ok, she's not her mother, but she's far easier on Cass than her own father is on her!;) And jack reaction to Cassie's little arrangement... he does the role of an angry father very well!

LOL! I loved this conversation:

She met up with Daniel in the kitchen. "I heard one of Janet's nurses and one of the gate technicians placing a new bet on you and Jack because of the way he kissed your cheek earlier," he informed her loudly.

"Sh, you're so loud when you're drunk," Sam scolded mildly, pouring a cup of soda for him. "Did you hear any of the bets about you and the Colonel?" she added innocently.

His jaw dropped open and she couldn't help but laughing. "Just kidding, Daniel."

Karaoke is always good for a laugh! Not only is the idea of Walter and Siler singing a duet together... last years "Ain't No Mountain High Enough' performance has well and truly bitten SG-1 in the bum! LOL! Nice one, Hammond and Jacob! No-one else could've done it, eg:

'Daniel, Sam, Teal'c, Jack, and Janet were all refusing to go up there, however, and nobody was giving them too much grief about it, as Daniel and Sam were the guests of honour and Jack was host of the party. Janet was exempted because she had all those handy needles at her disposal, and Teal'c, well, nobody really told Teal'c to do anything he didn't want to do.'

Anyway, I had to laugh at Teal'c being 'that traitor', and the comments about the gang, made byt the Two Evil Generals:

"Oh I don't know, I think they had a bit more room to move around on the tape, and were much less..."

"Sober?" Hammond supplied.

"I was going to say 'inhibited', but 'sober' works too. So I kind of liked that one better..."

Ooh, I loved the zipped-up coat scene between Sam and Jack!:) Even if the time (dammit!) wasn't right for them to be able to kiss in peace. And then when they danced properly, I had to laugh at Jacob's discomfort! But I did like the chat Jacob had with Hammond; that was nice.

Hmm...:

"Enjoy the remainder of your evening, O'Neill," Teal'c said as he headed up the stairs.

Jack spent about half a second wondering if Teal'c had meant that to sound suggestive or not before nodding off to sleep.

Followed by:

Teal'c stopped, gave them both a small smile, and took pleasure in slowly looking them both over, enjoying how nervous and uncomfortable it clearly made both of them. Still with a small smile on his face, he said calmly, "Major Carter, it merely looks as if you and O'Neill are continuing your annual birthday tradition. I must take this water to Daniel Jackson now, or he will come looking for it himself. Good night."

Observant guy! Well, if Cassie filled him in, I suppose that'd explain... but somehow, I think he'd be able to work it out himself.:)

Loved the finale... yes indeed, their kiss was interrupted! Great job!:)
