Or if she attracted the red-eyed being's attention another way. Could her encounter with the Goblin King be both the cause and protection from it?

This was superb. I hope there are more stories, but even if this is the only one, thank you! Great job on the Buffy attitude, language, etc. Drunk Giles was awesome. It was nice to see Lorne. Also, it was cool for Buffy to be the one to say to suck it up. Very fun read.

Oh, Jareth isn't generally a stand in the shadows and watch type if he's needed. Although I wouldn't be surprised to read about him watching Sarah just to watch her. Not if she was in danger though.

Beautiful ending. Destiny was a perfect name. Thank you for not naming her Buffy. And thank you for writing.

I have never read an author who could pull off so many characters in one story before. The way you keep them in character, separating their personalities, their speech patterns, and movements is astonishing. Well done. Well done.

Ok, so as per usual, I hold my comments till the end. I love both Labyrinth and Buffy, and I think you pegged all the characters just right, and you managed to blend them all relatively seamlessly.
Oz was awesome! I'm really glad you placed this story in the timeline where you did, because I loved his character (He was very much how you portrayed the Ludo, a man of few words but very articulate thought. On that note, I do wish you would have dived into his head at least once.). In my heart he will always be the perfect match for Willow.
Bothis was a good counterpart for Jareth (even if the evil family member is a little overused), and he was just the right type of villain for Buffy (the Polaroid was a stroke of genius, and hysterical!). Thank goodness she was there in the end, because someone needed to kill that guy!
Sarah was well done. She and Jareth are one of my favorite pairings, and this story was a good mix of their usual guardedness (at least on Sarah's part) and acceptance of their love (the timeline was a little unrealistic, but I think events such as this bring out things in people that might take much longer in regular circumstances). I loved the mention of Angel during Buffy's discussion with Sarah (I forget the wording, but it was a connection Buffy made in her head. I'm generally very loyal to first relationships. Note: Willow/Oz). On that topic, I really enjoyed Buffy laying into her! It fit will in the story, and she deserved it (not to say that Jareth didn't deserve to get slapped, because he kinda did, but that was very in character. I always pictured his as a little clueless about how women, especially Sarah, thought).
I liked how Jareth was more open, although I do generally picture him more guarded. I'll chalk that up to the extreme circumstances, since he was more guarded at the beginning. I think his willingness to be open removed a lot of possible (but unnecessary) drama. I loved the backstory. I always felt he was a lonely character, and the loss of his family, and the betrayal of one he was close to were heartbreaking account of why. I loved the "never teleport while drunk", and the little peak it gave into his father.
Willow, Xander, and Giles were well done. I loved that you allowed Willow to come into her powers a little, and that you brought Jenny in (I really miss her character).
Thank you so much for sending Schneider to the bog! I hated that guy.
Love the title, I thought it was a nice nod.
And lastly, I loved the epilogue with the baby. So bittersweet. Although I wonder that Jareth didn't see Buffy's future beyond her death. And I loved how Jareth said "I'm unequipped to handle that". That's exactly what my husband says!
All in all, I'd say 9 out of 10.
