I've read this wonderful story several times now and am finally leaving a comment. Great story! As you, I always thought there should have been a follow-up to Johnny's dunking. After all, that storm water is nasty stuff. This is a clever alternate ending. Well done!

That part bothered me too; Roy could see Johnny was struggling,
yet did not offer help. I wondered about that. I enjoyed your
story.

Kind of wondered why Roy did not even ask Johnny if he was OK in that episode. They both got back into the squad without Roy getting all Mother hen on Johnny.
