Reviews for Prisoner of Dol Guldur
Naunet42 chapter 14 . 10/18/2019
The ending was so beautiful, I had tears in my eyes. A great story.
mystarlight chapter 14 . 10/29/2018
Wonderful moving story about rebuilding family bonds and healing. I loved everything about this story. I only would like to know if Thranduil's wife managed to follow her family to the West and what sort of deal she did with Mandos. It would be great to find out more about Thranduil and Celeborn working together and if Drizzt really died or became immortal. Thank you!
mystarlight chapter 2 . 10/28/2018
The beginning is absolutely amazing. I am happy you decided to develop the story of the second Thranduil's son.
chloeafter chapter 14 . 1/22/2017
This is a sweet and much-appreciated story. The past haunts the old, and the bloom of the young may be due to their not being burdened by the past. It is lovely to see the care of Thranduil for those he loves. Arwen's fate seems far too harsh for one who only sought love; and, whose hope of love enabled Aragon to achieve his victory. And, even if she choose the fate of mortals, why would Tolkien not give her a mortal death by sickness or by accident?
Mirasaui chapter 14 . 12/10/2016
I know I have read this before, for Enadar's story is not one I shall ever forget. And if I did not leave a review then, it was on another site IIRC, then shame on me, for this, like all your other stories is superbly and beautifully written and deserving of praise.
H.TITAN chapter 10 . 10/27/2015
I am enjoying my time reading your fabulous story!
I don't know if it was intentional or not but I see that you make Thranduil's love for his children more than his children's love for him... I mean, all the previous chapter I saw how he frets over his son and even got encouraged to stay in middle-earth if his son desires so. On the contrary, all Legolas was concerned about was his friends, not even a second thought about his father and brother.
Well, I would put my family over my friends.

Thank you for your great work! And good luck!
selene344 chapter 14 . 10/10/2014
You brought me to tears, all things elven eventually end in tragedy. :(
They can never both have the cake and eat it.
But I enjoyed the story. :)
Reader chapter 14 . 11/29/2013
I can't believe how beautiful this story and the end was. Exceptional.
M Elizabeth Penn chapter 6 . 8/10/2013
I find it amusing that you used the word amme for the nursemaid, when there is a similar word in Quenya (ammë) that means mother.
red day dawning chapter 14 . 2/21/2013
Arwen's fate has always haunted me. Even as a child, first reading of her lonely fading among the trees and flowers of Cerin Amroth, I was horrified. Strangely enough, now that I've lived longer, I feel there is a peace in her endless sorrow. I am glad you gave her company for her parting, and loved ones to say goodbye.
This was very beautiful and magical. I loved this story.
red day dawning chapter 4 . 2/21/2013
This is so wonderful. Truly, I'm mesmerized. There's so much back-story I'm unfamiliar with here: I've read TLOTR and its appendices, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. Is the rest from Tolkien's Lost Tales? Or is it fanfiction? Where can I read more about the elves of Mirkwood and the Avari?
HaMalka HaLevana chapter 14 . 10/20/2012
Wonderful as ever...
I'm so glad you decided to post these chapters.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful, touching story.
Mia-philosephet chapter 13 . 10/15/2012
Wow, I didn't expect an ending so soon, but I agree it was a good place. Seeds of hope sown and beginning to blossom. I am glad Enadar will make a full recovery. :) I am curious, is the Great Ash all your own idea or is there some root in Tolkien's works? Thank you for an enjoyable read.
gginsc chapter 14 . 10/12/2012
I always hated Arwen's fate, too! I don't see why she had to die alone and forgotten.
WiseQueen chapter 14 . 10/12/2012
If human is not the right word, what about humane? I love the small changes you were able to give Arwen - I also think that her ending was almost cruel on her. But then again, it puts her end up with a few of the other tragic heroes Tolkien wrote about.

And I love the way this gives Enadar a better ending of his time in Middle-earth (if his father decides that they leave, which I think he will), too. He got some time with his only love - and he was able to be a real help and consolation for her in the last weeks of her life. He got a final mission, and he finished it. And so he is ready to leave.

It's also good to see that he did indeed receive some healing. After a hundred years he is someone very different from the remains of a being that was found in the dungeons. He still has a long way to go, but there's no danger that he will not get there.
Especially now that he's fulfilled his final obligation.
