We never really found out why Doyle wasn’t not there in the Prologue, did we?

The way Tobias and Annie break up seems somewhat contrived, but I see how Tobias could've lashed out after losing his badge :( Overall, these 8 shorts have been wonderful, showing me a different side of canon and fitting in perfectly. Not all Slytherins were evil, and the Gryffindors were not the goody-two-shoes JKR presented them as. A

God, the Gryffindors annoy me so much in this chapter! But I understand why they are lashing out. Tobias and Annie seems to be a doomed romance, honestly.

Mmm, Tanith is denying her feelings for Tobias, I see. The festival was brilliant, and it made me happy to see Tobias finding a girl (even though it's not Tanith)

The fight between the Gryffindors and Slytherins had me on edge, and I love how you show us how from the perspective of Slytherins, Gryffindors can be the bullies. The ending made me sad, because Lupin was a wonderful teacher, but you had to do that to explain why all the Slytherins hated him in canon

This was both hilarious and so uncomfortable! The drama between Tobias and Tanith broke my heart (when Tanith was crying because she didn't want to hurt Tobias' feelings, gah!) and the bromance between Cal and Gabriel had me rolling.

This chapter has many emotional moments, all expertly done. Cal quitting the Quidditch team fits canon and has a believable explanation. Tobias and Tanith's clash was inevitable and needed to happen, explaining why they would go on to become friends later. Good stuff

Altair is a fascinatingly strong character despite being a Squib, truly teaching Tanith to be more open-minded. Major conflicts are established well here, and the characters slot nicely into canon events. Well done!

I love love love the beginning of this chapter. The introductions of our regular characters from an outside, Muggle perspective is a strong idea and well done.

Seriously though, in eight short chapters you have gotten me to care as much about these four people as I do about J.K. Rowling's own characters. Your character building and development here — not to mention your dialogue — is just masterful, and I am so excited to have found your stories. I started LAIE on a vague, curious whim Sunday afternoon, and by midnight I had trouble going to sleep because my head was just spinning with how good it was.

I was so excited to find that Shade to Shade is much longer — and also excited to realize that you're still actively writing and updating other stuff — and I've already started to dive in. Thank you for writing this!

A very pleasant read. Character-driven, realistic excerpts that give a whole new look at Slytherin house while still staying canon-compliant. I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into Shade to Shade.

This fanfic and it's sequels was added to rye community that I follow, Excellent Harry Potter Fanfiction, and it had never led me astray before so I decided to try it. I've never read one that has the main focus on OCs, but I really enjoyed it. It helps that it was really well written, I like the way that you did it, just snapshots from different years. I was really hesitant at first to give it a try since it has so few favorites and was written so long ago, but I'm glad I did and I'm looking forward to reading the sequels. Keep up the goodwork
