This is the 'obvious ending' for a reason you know. Because it's satisfying. Personally, I figure he snarked death into sending him back. Can you imagine Severus, bustling about heaven, raising hell demanding to be let back down? Arguing the technicality of 'How is this Heaven if I'm here and she's there?' until eventually whatever powers that be in the afterlife decided that just getting rid of him was worth whatever paperwork was involved? Because that's exactly what I picture happening.

This was so good! So good! The ending was most cute, everything I needed. Definitely new favourite.

This is perhaps my all time favorite HG/SS fic. It's been a while since I've last read it, but I had a sudden memory of its existence and just had to come back. I was quite upset when I couldn't find it in my favorites! I'm so glad you reposted this. It really is a clever story, and I think there is a shortage of slow burn HG/SS fics out there.

One thing I noticed this time was that all the page breaks are missing. The last paragraph of one section will flow right into the first of the next and can be a bit confusing for a moment, especially when there is a time jump.

This story is brilliant! I love the last scene, where Olive Hornby gets treated the way she used to act. And the ghost-Hermione/Snape interactions are wonderful!

Oh geez. Why don't you just have Severus use a time tuner and save Herminone from dieting and then marry Hermione. They are clearly in love with each other.
