I really liked this story a lot. I read it quite a while back, and reread it today. It was filled with angst while Mark was waiting for the end, and for Hardcastle in trying to find him once he knew something had happened and who was involved.

Mark gets in all kinds of horrible always knows though that Milt will always be there to take care of the situation and get him back where he is safe.

I'll let you plan all the angst festivals from now on, but I don't know if you can top the tension in this one! This is about the 10th time I've read it now, and it still grips me.

BTW, now I have a new favorite passage: ". . . Frothman really wanted to get through to me.” Hardcastle looked like he had already done way too much thinking about this. “I told you where I would be staying,” he added quietly." I think this is absolutely right-on Hardcastle. Of course, you still gotta love Mark trying not to think about after, "with the flies". A gruesome shiver now and again is good for the soul.

"total angst festival" is really the best way to describe this story. Poor Mark ;-)
