alicefrombakugan chapter 6 . 2/24/2011 Deep and emotional. I like it. |
RGZ Archer chapter 8 . 10/21/2009 Hmm, very interesting, very interesting indeed. I assume this ‘Parker’ fellow is the one mentioned back in a few past places yes? Chapter five being a large one me thinks. I also think that this is a bit out of the time loop, in that something has not yet been shown but is still important. I don’t know why, but this chapter seems to be very much connected to chapter five in a way I can’t quite figure out. There is something here, I just cant seem to find it yet, like there is a missing clue. The big question of why the Gloft didn’t just enslave the earth in the past is probably one of the only bits I can guess at. They didn’t because they couldn’t, because they weren’t there. Time travel is a fickle thing. If you go back in time, there is a period (brief to yourself, but much longer to others) where you simply don’t exists, and never did. Between now and then lies nothingness, and while in nothingness, nothing happens because it hasn’t and never will. While the Glorft are between now and then, in nothingness, the future hasn’t been and cant be changed. Similarly, if they went back in time, then were destroyed in nothingness, their alterations to the time stream would not occur, as they were destroyed before making the alterations. In other words, die in between now and then, and nothing, no matter how great of a change you made in the past will happen in the future, you simply died trying. I like how you brought up Kiva’s defensive nature concerning being human. It shows that she still is. If she had lost that part of her, that respect of her mind, she would get pissed when accused, not defensive. Defensive entails there is something left to defend, no matter how small. Good work with the subtlety there. This line REALLY got my attention: "The Kiva Andru described in these reports and the one you just described sound like two very different people." Now, lets sit back and think for a moment. The reports, unless I’m mistaken, are Coops recounting of what happened in his timeline. Now, why would the two seem so different? Well, there is the fact that in Coops timeline, Kiva wasn’t under deaths watch every waking moment of her life, and was actually able to live a little. Ten years is a long time when you think about it, and ten years with a somewhat calm and bearable. In short, I think the Kiva that Coop was describing, the one he knows, is the real Kiva, the one he managed to dredge up from under the lifetime of $ that had been piled on top of her, or at least what remained of her and had survived all this time. Another interesting point is that Coop ‘screamed about finding’ First Kiva, then the Glorft. Then before that he ‘remembered’ the Gloft, Kiva, and the will to survive. In both instances Kiva was placed directly next the subject, almost marking her as a verb of sorts, or an adjective to describe Coop himself. A very interesting choice and order of words. Then we have yet another little snipit, that being Kiva managing to make Coop swallow his pride (no small feat given his track record for being right in the end and winning by calling his own shots. Another interesting thing I noticed. Parker seems to have an understanding of Coop, or at least a window into his mind. Guess its from years of service, but the fact that he actually treated Coop as he would an actual soldier actually speaks quite a bit of what the man thinks of Coop. Now, for the big moment, and the single largest point of ammunition in my argument that despite not knowing it, Coop does feel just a *little* something for Kiva, something slightly stronger than ‘brother and sister in arms’ or comrades. He saw, he SAW what happened, he saw what had happened, and what would happen to earth, he saw what was at stake, and he STILL had an internal wrestling of to do whats right (fight to help defeat the Glorft) versus what he wanted (to go save Kiva) that’s not something a person does JUST for a friend. You want to help them, and it hurts really bad when you don’t, but you still know what you have to do. Only ‘the big L’ messes with logic and normal thinking that badly. Still, I have a general idea for where this series is going, and while I respect the law of Author Sama (in fiction the author is God thereby whatever they say goes) I hope its not as dark as I am seeing it turn out to be. Hero’s are great, but when they die they become legends. Hero’s are more important than legends I think, society needs them. Overall, this was a great chapter, and an awesome addition to an already epic story. I look forward to the next chapter! And, yeah, sorry it took me so long, I'm almost finished with chapter 9's review, expect it sometime this week. But hey, I DID review lol. Till next time, Ja Ne! |
aint got one chapter 9 . 10/20/2009 good story but your grammer is in need of serious work |
graypheonix chapter 9 . 9/8/2009 Heh, and an interesting story at that, heh. Continue to update, even this little side story was fun. Update again soon (hopefully sooner than 3 months next time!) ja ne. |
JDKloosterman chapter 9 . 9/7/2009 A fun chapter, though it seems a little... out of place given that last chapter we were in the middle of a messed-up future. Still, some nice insight into Kiva's character, I like the hidden fragility. One thing... I think back with Mrs. Coopawski you had her say "uppermost suspect," that should be, "uppermost respect" or better, "utmost respect." |
Shiro wolfman k chapter 9 . 9/7/2009 It was a really good chapter, even relaxing after all of what happened. But it's make think, that in the next chapters are gonna be more heavy whit the plot. It's like the calm before the big and very bad storm. Thank you for such a good story to read. |
shiro-wolfman-k chapter 8 . 7/17/2009 Thank you, really thank you for still updating this story. Its fenomenal... its great... its the best story in this section. |
JDKloosterman chapter 8 . 7/1/2009 I think when you're writing "caption", you mean to write "captain." Different things. Glad to see Coop's finally in the future, though things still seem to be moving rather slowly. I'm not completely sure where the random fox comes from, but I guess if there are a lot of aliens it makes a bit of sense. Look forward to seeing more. |
TheWriterInTraining chapter 7 . 3/22/2009 There is a few typos like its "soldier" not "solder" and "losing" not "loosing" but nice story and take your time. |
RGZ Archer chapter 7 . 3/19/2009 I'm so sorry it took me longer to get this up than I said it would. I was on the wrong end of a poorly cooked eggroll and have..well been under the weather the last 2 days lol. First of all, welcome back. I told you it would take me a little while to review, but I did. Glad to see you’re still writing this thing, it’s a great story. Oddly enough, I think my favorite characters you write are Kiva and Goat. I said it in the past, but I’ll say it again, you are the BEST writer of Goat there is. In the show they always dropped little hints that there was more to his character, and, he always looked after Coop. I never noticed that till after reading the first chapter or two if this story. The subtle little thing you did with Goat at the hospital was very nice. He might have been tired, but I guarantee you that he wouldn’t have left had Kiva not been there. Military mind set never leaves a person. In his mind, he saw the situation, saw that Coop was in good hands, and more than likely, given the circumstances, it was for the best that he not be there. When a person is admitted to the hospital like that, you want to be there for your friends, but at the same time, you have to know when they need…not exactly to be alone, but when its not appropriate to have all your friends there at once. Goat probably, deep down knew that things were not going to be good, and that Coop would break down. The fewer people that saw it, the better. He’s close to Coop, but Coop holds Goat in a sort of high regard for what he did for him in the past. He might feel ashamed to fall apart in front of someone that lost as much, possibly more than he did. So he prevented that from happening. The only person, aside form hospital staff that saw him fall was Kiva, and everyone has that…one person that they let see them weak. Kiva seems to be Coops, Goat knew this, and removed himself from the equation. Its funny that Kiva thought she couldn’t do anything in her position. As a soldier she should know that sometimes just having someone there is all the difference. Silent support is still support. Then the ‘deathblow’ to Coop….I’ve only seen a grown man cry once in my life, and I’d chop off my left arm if it meant I could forget it. To see ANY person collapse in on themselves is painful, for it to be someone you know doubles that, for it to be someone your close to triples it, and for it to be someone you care about? It’s like having a giant meat hook tear you from the gut up. Heck, you just proved that whether she knows it or not, Kiva cares for him a great deal more than as a friend. A friend, no matter how close they are, would think before acting, but when it comes to someone that cares that deeply, they react. Good or bad, they react on instinct without a second though, just as she did when she threw herself at him. It’s a small thing really, but like I’ve said, the murder’s in the details. Tiny gestures, reflexes, reactions, they show who a character really is at heart. To think is human, to act is entirely up to the individual. Same with Coop’s response to ‘would you give up everything to help her?’ His immediate response shows how strong of a bond he shares with her is. I enjoyed the conversations with ‘the guardian’ who I now have a pretty good idea of as being ‘Fox’ and some of the other bits that left me blinking at the computer screen from previous chapters….I hope things ‘change’ this ‘time’ around. As for what Coop described about being able to fix Megas, I believe its called ‘Muscle Memory’ its when your body remembers things for no obvious or apparent reason. Sort of like a highly tuned reflex. People that take martial arts will get this after many years, like if someone touches their shoulder, their body might react on its own. On occasion people have picked up bits of muscle memory from genetics itself, but never anything major. (Little kid whose dad is a star baseball player knowing how to swing a bat without being told or seeing, stuff like that.) My theory of how Coop does this is connected to a…time paradox of sorts, but I’ll save my theory until I have more evidence. I understand this fic is Angst, but I do hope its not going to entirely center on that, from beginning through action up to and including the end. Its very interesting, and unique, not just for a Megas story (as none of them are updated anymore, or at least not often) but as a story in general. You have three very powerful and well defined characters you have created, Coop, Goat, and Kiva. If you changed the names around and the details you’d have a pretty good original story going here. I hope you will continue to work on this, and I hope to see more of your work in the futre. Till next tmie, Ja Ne! |
kitarrear chapter 7 . 3/19/2009 Wow you up dated Im very happy and impressed you did, thank you. I was just contemplating would you like a beta reader to help with grammer or punctuation I would be honoured to help as I would like to see this story to the end. I really like this chapter its a bit more indepth and a bit more phylosophical I really like the fox threw me for a loop and then reminded me off one of the Hellboy cartoons lol sorry but it deffinately fits with the whole chapter nicely. Please let me know if you'd like any help Kit _ |
JDKloosterman chapter 7 . 3/17/2009 Ohkay. The whole "nine-tailed fox" thing comes out of nowhere, but I suppose you needed some way to show what Coop's thinking. The earlier part in the time-stream was cool, though. And the history of Coop's family was good. Keep at it. I'm interested to see where this goes. |
MegasXLRfan chapter 1 . 2/27/2009 I like this fic, i specially like how it treats the characters as more than just cliched archetypes. |
JDKloosterman chapter 6 . 12/2/2008 Hm. Sudden switch from meditative to action based, but not bad. Kiva is now a damsel in distress, and maybe they're all going to the future. Or the past. Hard to say. It should be interesting to see where this goes. I have no idea what the side story with the fox is about, though. |
Exo-Toxicimpulse chapter 6 . 11/25/2008 Aw it finishe it was gettin excitin i hope u write soon ;) can't wait X3 great job i loved it plzz more T.T |
