Always wondered about canon...why wasn't Hagrid the ADULT? He should have met Charlie in Hogsmeade or on the top of the tower. Of course canon has sooo many things that make you go WHY!

Oh fuck it's Lucius. Why WHY! Ugh. Now Snape's gonna have to deal with that slimy git. I wonder how he manages to walk the line so well. And then there's Quirrel. Who is also Trouble. It's nice to see Harry so curious about magic. He never seemed to ask enough questions in the earlier books and by the time book 5 rolled around all his questions were lashing out and I couldn't sit through much of it. Gonna do a reread at some point. See how different I see things.

Okay good, Harry's getting a full introduction. Yay for Harry getting the what's what of Diagon Alley! Good eye for Snape on explaining the gold cauldrons! I had a similar explanation for one of my stories. Also: Snape the Potions Master doing right by a student is my favorite. I like this version of the guy so far.

I've always wondered where the "multiple vaults at Gringotts" thing came from. It's pretty good that Snape doesn't sugar coat things but I'm glad he's not being overly cruel either.

And we have the backstory! Plain terms, well done Snape. No sugarcoating or hesitation, something no one ever made clear but that happens in most battles "Light (wizards) don't play dirty and manybwere wiped out" extremely true. I think it's cool that Snape doesn't name the Secret Keeper but instead directs Harry to Dumbledore. Does he suspect the truth or think it's too much to go into?

I think it's interesting that you're giving Snape a Malfoyish twist on his background. What happened to his mother? Or was his father still an abusive prat?

I find it terribly convenient that Snape hadn't arrived two seconds earlier to see the literal closet they were keeping him in. Then again he'd likely explode. Ah, Snape. Keeps everything short and sweet and to the point. And... Oh wait. Harry doesn't know. Anything. I remember in the books they at least told him what happened to his parents but he literally doesn't know anything here and it's made really obvious by the way you write. That's amazing!

One thing I always wondered about the letters is if anyone looked at where they were sent or if it was just automatic. I know Dumbledore explained his motivation down the line and the Doylist explanation is that everything would be different if he were raise normally, but still. Good luck getting that letter, Harry. Also: Dumbledore you fool. Oh shoot he actually sends Snape! I thought McGonagall was gonna go back to get him. DUMBLEDORE YOU FOOL! I hope McGonagall is the voice of reason throughout all this. She deserves better but she's also a badass. *cue Jaws theme*
