Nice beginning of a story. Sounds pretty wierd though. That portal you are referring to goes to the Hyldan area, and they explained a bit of it in BO2 and Defiance.

Having him get "mysteriously transported" is somewhat generic...how about something like stealing an item or losing an item that would have transported him elsewhere? Think of the TT episode "How Long is Forever?". Star didn't just mysteriously appear 20 years in the future, she did so because she jumped in the time portal, struggeled with Warp, then ripped off his vortage regulator thingie. THAT is a good plot device, and it makes sense.

Just some criticism, and now for praise:

Nicely done, love the descriptions. Please lets have a bit of action though, ok? Continue the story!
