Oo I love this, it's start to finish a complete pece, you could just as easily call it 'Another Night'. It's so well written that I need to praise Kakashi's characterisation and he's not even in it; but the fact he would train Sasuke in something he shouldn't do is perfect because he knows Sasuke's determination and arrogance, and 'that man had a way of saying nothing that said everything' could be the one line summary for Kakashi it's that good. another subtle but wonderful touch is the phrase about the lines betraying Naruto, because it comes across that Sasuke carries that traitor with him, and it informs how he sees the world. Just as 'It's a stupid gesture, and Sasuke doesn't like doing stupid things.' speaks to his black and white attitude.

Finally, you can't help but empathise with them both. Naruto for what he's going through and his future, and Sasuke for his ability to see it. When he thinks about leaving because it won't improve you feel for him, because he's been through so much already and even now he's dealing with this with some denial but a large amount of bravery. It's awful to think of Sasuke victim to his circumstances, but what other choice does he have to get what he wants, (ie Naruto, and eventually, the chance to kill Itachi.)

Excellent, thought provoking stuff that creates a mood without sacrificing plot. Love it!

Read this a while ago, but I guess I never reviewed.

This one hurts. Really hurts. Because there's just that sense of fatalism (like you said) and that there is NO fixing this but they won't/can't talk about it, and Sasuke needs/loves Naruto too much to leave. The scene when Sasuke runs to the bathroom was especially painful...just how screwed up and unfair everything is...and...yeah.

I love all the nuances you work into their relationship...like how Sasuke is insulting and so overly protective at the same time. And I liked the repeated mentions of the mangekyou..."if he does have to be the one to kill Naruto, and he does somehow gain the mangekyou sharingan from it, he'll gouge out his eyes." I loved that line.

ow ow painful. you just prodded me with needles with that fic. with sasuke unsure of what to do and hiding the results from naruto and pfah. just pfah. it made me want to cuddle sasuke. and then cuddle naruto, because he can't help it either.

wow that was great! i love how u made sasuke so hesitant to help naruto but yet u made his love for him always win. it was very good i didnt see any grammar errors or anything bad about. now u actually made me think if sasukes arm is actually ruined because of the fight him and naruto had at the valley of the end. wow this is a long review well keep up the good work!
