maglors harp chapter 1 . 4/15/2014 I cannot believe I favourited this story without reviewing. That's not something I usually do. Either way, here goes: This is one of my favourite stories about Maglor. You painted vividly a bitter, repentant picture of Maglor, while retaining a sense of mystery around him. Also, second-person narration is very difficult to manage, but you pulled it off elegantly, and the recounting of the narrator's childhood is very realistic. You capture the essence of a small, rural settlement well. I hope you write more about Maglor in the future! -Maglor |
Sunsetcheetah chapter 1 . 10/23/2013 I KNEW IT! I was right to think it was Maglor! _ very interesting story! Loved it! |
lipasnape chapter 1 . 6/21/2008 This is the first Tolkien fanfiction that I have ever read. The atmosphere is right (right depressing). Maglor indeed. I never knew fanfiction existed until I needed it after HBP. I never looked for LotR fanfiction fearing it was movie-inspired, and movies angered me very much. Yet, I will go back to SSHG for reasons I won't seek words for. |
Rhyselle chapter 1 . 10/17/2006 I am in awe... this story just really got me and I can't define why it has moved me so much. Amazing, evocative wording which flows like a story told in dark nights by a true storyteller vice story writer. I applaud! |
LA Knight chapter 1 . 9/17/2006 Aw, man, and I so wanted to know that, too! Yes! |
LadyAtika chapter 1 . 12/29/2005 Oh wow, another one that made me want to cry, haha. That was an awesome story.. poem it could be deemed...So it wasn't Toilken, one day I might know the name of the Harper... |
Depprium chapter 1 . 11/7/2005 Wow, that was incredible. I'm actually speechless. Your descriptions of how Maglor looked were very powerful. *bows to your talent* |
SimplyChristine chapter 1 . 8/21/2005 That was so beautiful *chokes on tears* |
Unsung Heroine chapter 1 . 8/9/2005 Oh, wow... this is so great your in-box should be bursting with review-alerts! Yet there are only six and so I decided to add my own humble one. This story is so sad and beautiful and makes me feel like crying a little. The whole atmosphere is truly touching and leaves me at a loss for something smart to say about it. It is great, what more can I say? Moreover I admire how you establish such a wonderful, detailed setting for it. The village in the White Mountains, the goats, the Great Hall; everything of this feels *real* to the reader. ... do I still need to add that this will be added to my favorites? :-) |
Arandil chapter 1 . 7/15/2005 Didn't I review this? I could have sworn I reviewed this already. It's still awesome. Maglor makes me cry. Poor Maglor. *huggles Maglor* "Pain I see," the blind bard said. "Death I see. And anger. Blinded pride I see. Stubborn, blinded pride that still lives on. And I can tell you even more." *cries* oh, and I know I reviewed this, because I know I told you that I know the song "Frodo of the Nine Fingers and the Ring of Doom." Unless I just told you that and didn't actually leave a review. Hmm... too tired to remember. |
Noldo chapter 1 . 11/17/2004 Amazingly well-written, and I especially love Maglor's part in it all. *hugs Feanorion* An interesting and evocative piece. |
Elven Script chapter 1 . 10/19/2004 Brilliant! |
Aranel Took chapter 1 . 10/19/2004 Beautiful! The language is perfect here. Although you tell it from the harper's point of view, you really capture Maglor and his bitterness (and regrets). As always, your description and details are fantastic. :-) |
Mija chapter 1 . 10/17/2004 Another work of art, beautiful, just beautiful! |
Lady Lanet chapter 1 . 10/17/2004 I heavily agree. You sound 29-30 ish. But already, your stories are great. My dad's watching ROTK in the next room, and although I do not belive you wrote this story to be sad, I cried. I did not cry the great tears when a dog or friend dies, I did not cry tears of happiness. I cried the tears that can only be cried when something like this comes along. A feeling in my chest that I cannot describe. I let one more tear fall from my eyes and hit the key board. This story is beautiful. I still cry for the man. You made the man come alive. You made that beautiful poem come alive. You made this story come alive. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. *Cries* I'm sad... |
