Reviews for Now Comes the Night
Ashwinder chapter 1 . 7/25/2012
Reviewing my own story so I can thank Seamus. I don't know if you'll see this or not, though, but thank you for that kind review. It made me smile.

If you want to give my HP fic a try, go for it with the following warning: my ships are the canon ships, especially H/G. And for HP, I mostly wrote the main characters, so if you're looking for building up of more minor characters you won't find much of it there.

Also, for any unfinished fic, read at your own risk, because I'm not going to go back and finish any of it at this point. Partly because I don't want to read my old writing these days. It makes my palms itch to rewrite, and I don't have time for it. What I'm saying is, I think I've improved a bit since I wrote fanfic. I hope so. Thanks again for taking the time to review.
Seamus chapter 1 . 7/25/2012
I have to say, as earnestly as I can through this most impartial of mediums, that this is one of my favorite stories ever. To expand upon the part of such a minor character, and build them into a narrator of such poignant emotion is far beyond any other fan fiction I've ever read, and many of the original works as well. I have to say that I am wary of reading the Harry Potter material this author has written, having been down that particular path a few times before, but if anyone has the chops to write something that can salve the scarring previously incurred, it is this writer.

On a closing note, my favorite thing about this is how true to the source material it stays. Tolkien has a difficult style to imitate, and allowing for some evolution in the English language over the last thirty-odd years, this was spot on stylistically. To say nothing of the fact that an entire character was written from the ground up in this style.

Like I said, on of my favorite short stories ever. I'm even looking forward to that romance novel.

Very well-written. It's hard to find good Silmarillion fanfic, but I thought this was amazing

I very much like your choice of narrator, she brings a practical eye to this great tragedy. A wonderful piece of writing.
RavenLady chapter 1 . 5/18/2005
What sticks with me is the end:

"With a heavy sigh, I push up my sleeves, and set back to work."

It's such a strange feeling, the way life goes on after a tragedy. *shivers*

I'm impressed with this. You take a minor, minor character and bring her to life, and give a different perspective on such a well-known story. Wow.

Great story idea! Well-written and interesting.
Vana Tuivana chapter 1 . 10/12/2004
I love how you take a character with about 2 lines in the actual story and make her real. Interesting that she was one of many women who fell in love with Turin, but he could only love the one who was forbidden to him.

You've done a wonderful job with this piece and the unnamed woman, fleshing her out and connecting her with the story. It's absolutely phenomonal writing and a superb story.
