What a fun story! Who wouldn't want Aragorn for a dad? You also did a good job portraying the character's attachment to each other without making it sappy. Thanks for writing this.

Thank you very much for the story. I enjoyed reading how the characters developed over the course of the story. I could picture everything very well! I sympathized with Éowyn and Rebecca's confrontation at Dunharrow- it does seem like a double-standard, but it was necessary for the plot! (Too had the narrator can't speak from the clouds in a Morgan Freeman voice to the characters and say "trust me, it'll be okay!")

It's been a while since anyone has posted a review for this story, I've noticed, so I figure that now is a good time to add another one-if you're still reading them, that is! :)

You're probably not interested in writing any more Thomas and Rebecca stories, least of all not in rewriting what you're already written! But just in case, may I suggest a plot bunny? As I said in a previous review, I think it's too bad that Thomas's little brother, John, could not have accompanied him and Rebecca to Middle-earth. Would you be interested in writing another version of both stories, in which John not only survives the bus crash, but also accompanies his big brother to Middle-earth? I mean, think about it. Thomas, at least, has memories of their father, but John has never had one. If he as well as Thomas went to Middle-earth, he would have a father at last, in Aragorn. And it would certainly make for some interesting dynamics, seeing how John coped on the Quest and adjusted to life in Middle-earth along with his big brother.

As I said, this is probably not a re-write you're interested in, not in the least. But I thought I would make the suggestion. I wish you would-I would so love to read it! )

This is truly a delightful story, as is the sequel. I hope that, sometime, you'll write some more stories about Thomas and Rebecca!

To Nameless/Guest: Since you don't have an account I can't reply to your review directly, but I wanted to respond to your comment about Elrond and Arwen being at the coronation. While that happened in the movie, it did not happen that way in the books and this is a book based story where Elrond and Arwen - and many others - arrived about 6 weeks after the coronation when Aragorn and Arwen.

Elrond was present for the coronation, why wouldn't he bring Arwen with him?

Frodo would have known about Boromir's death from the time he spent with Faramir in Ithilien.

Interestingly, Bilbo had a clock on his mantelpiece, so it wouldn't be outrageous for Gandalf to imagine a watch.

I'm not sure, but I think it's only elves of the Blessed Realm that sing of Elbereth

I am not sure if you accept constructive criticism so I will just say this then.

This story would've been better if the OC was originally from ME as so little of the 1950s culture clashes are mentioned and there would be MANY realisticly speaking.

In fact their is a really good story called "Don't Panic" that explains the hardships you would really face if you were to be thrown into ME including language barriers.

I wouldn't expect you to go so far as language barriers as most fans just *skim* thru the story and I don't know either frankly but I do know that Westron is not the same as English which Tolkien specificly said so.

How nice to read a story written by somebody who read the Appendices - I'm referring to the use of Sindarin in Gondor.
I've seen stories where Faramir did not speak "elfish" ... I admit to frothing at the mouth a bit ...
