mes314159 chapter 1 . 12/5/2019 heh heh poor Olorin trying to slow down maiar-level thinking for corporeals! fun stuff |
wotumba1 chapter 1 . 11/19/2015 LOL gotta love the subtle nuances of language |
goldenpuon chapter 1 . 9/25/2014 I greatly enjoyed this story. The characters persistence in understanding that one part of Gandalf's story was very amusing, as was Gandalf's irritation. You are a truly gifted writer! Your stories "feel" like the Tolkien's books with a base set around the LOTR movies. Furthermore, I greatly enjoy how many of your stories explore and explain bits of discontinuity in the movies and the cause of character's actions. I find them fascinating to read and marvel at your ability to notice small, unexamined aspects from the LOTR movies and books and craft such stunning masterpieces from them! Superb work (all of it)! |
Wane Soo-Jin chapter 1 . 5/11/2013 That was very funny ! |
Petrichora chapter 1 . 2/23/2013 "Go read the books. They're better anyway." -Cheers! :) Although I would be lying if I said that I did not take great visual delight in observing the on-screen actions of Legolas and Aragorn...and Faramir...and Pippin...and Sam...and now that we've got The Hobbit up on the silver screen, I might as well throw in Kili, you know, in the interest of full disclosure. . But I loved the books first and still love them best! :) And by the way, the visual image of a naked Gandalf hacking away at the corpse of the Balrog with Glamdring and screaming, "I will smite thy ruin upon the mountainside!" entered into my mind at the beginning of the story and is still stuck there. :p |
shine lots chapter 1 . 1/22/2012 lol! I love the varied and distinct things which you write about - quibbling over that memorable phrase - genius. I also like how Legolas and Gimli tease each other, and how you come to the conclusion that Tolkien, not Jackson, is THE authority on all such turns of phrase. |
kspadawan chapter 1 . 4/4/2011 LOL, poor Gandalf. This made me laugh. :j |
Vanafindiel chapter 1 . 3/19/2011 That was great! |
lady angst chapter 1 . 5/26/2010 Ah, this sounds like every Lit class I've ever taken. Love this little scene sooo much; it just makes me so happy. |
Shipwright's Trick chapter 1 . 4/1/2010 I laughed so hard that I cried when I read this story. Legolas and Gimli trading insults about the other party's "strange customs" was very funny- as was the rest of it, of course. : ) |
BookLyrm chapter 1 . 11/30/2009 Absolutely brilliant! I love picking apart book-movie adaptations, but this is hilarious! I have a simillar pet peeve in Romeo and Juliet, about the "brace of kinsman" the Duke always mentions and often, in movies, does not have. This is the second of your stories I've read, and I'm loving it so far! |
bjelka chapter 1 . 6/8/2009 Ohh, really great! Although it evokes memories of unloved German lessons... "analysing and interpreting" - yuck! I don't know the words Gandalf uses in the German synchronisation of the film, but the phrase in my book is even more clearly (I think). Tolkien doesn't say whether the Balrog destroys the mountainside on purpose or he just impinges there, does he? The translator wrote something like "and the mountainside where he impinged (don't know whether it's a common word, but at least it hasn't many different meanings) was smashed". Yes, yes, language is a tricky business... Poor Gandalf! |
yamina-chan chapter 1 . 4/18/2009 I love word plays, and it makes me angry that I can't get this as it supposed to be, since english is not my first laguage. Still it was a lot of fun to "listen" to this conversaion. |
TenFiftyOne chapter 1 . 4/15/2009 Fun ficlet! ehehe- this made me laugh a lot. a friend of mine's mum is one of the women who wrote the screenplay- I'm going to have to bring it up with her! |
laughingst chapter 1 . 3/25/2009 Witty and entertaining. I loved it. |
