I haven't a whole lot to say about this one that hasn't been already said, but kudos to you for sympathetically portraying a group that would so often be brushed off as flat and evil. The stark verse works quite well here.

i really like the title "White for Mourning" and how u encompassed it into your short story so well. all the white of Gondor, from the white tree to their white faces, cause all this mourning. i've never really realized that the women of Harad would be mourning too. i like, "they would have understood that I love their memory no less for my lack of lamentation."

White instead of black... that takes getting used to. Her last thoughts ('White truely is the color of mourning') confuses me: is she saying that Gondor will forever be mourning her family's dead?

Good! I always thought that it was a bit mean for the Gondorians and Rohirrim to go slaughtering all those people who just happened to be Sauron's slaves. This is very well done.
