Nice story! I really do like the diction; it helped to convey Boots' abhorrence for slavery and such. I would've though he'd hold a grudge against white people since he earlier spoke of his mother's master as thinking the slaves as demonic, but I guess maybe he was only reflecting on his mother's feelings? In any case, I really like it and I think you're a great writer. *Grins* Update soon!

Please update soon. I can just see an old Boots with a bunch of wide-eyed kids sitting around him as he talks. Plus this has Spot in it, and I love that blue eyed Brooklyn

You know as well as anyone that I have basically lost faith in the world of fan fic. But, I can always count on you to bring a little bit of hope for the newsieverse back, at least for me.

I loved the story, or love it so far, I should say. It was real, and thats something that is often lacking in fan fics. Im sure you know that too. The opening was brilliant, it got straight to the point but also had a sort of slow, dramatic feel to it. If that made sense, Im surprised. His personality both in the narrating and in his flashbacks are both believable and likable. (why do i feel like i spelled those words wrong...because im sure I did, thats why)

I cant wait to see the second chapter, and this is what makes me want to write some of my own stuff again. Brilliant start, and about time he explained himself over that line!
