Reviews for Twilight of the Gods
rossui chapter 5 . 2/1/2019
I am on chapter five and this is really engrossing. Either the Gondor story or the Rohan story would stand well on their own, but combining the two is magic.
I did read a story about the capture of Aragorn and Eomer, but can't find it. Can you point me in the right direction as it seems it could be good for background, but I remember little of it. (Not that it wasn't memorable, it is my memory at issue here.)
LadyOfAnfalas chapter 49 . 2/8/2015
This was quite a good story. The one real criticism I have is this (and I know it wasn't really a part of this story): Denethor would never have had an illicit sexual relationship. Even if you're only going by the movies you have no reason to believe he would but if you're in any way influenced by the books you seem to have entirely misunderstood his character. He was fatally flawed by extreme pride, not am adulterer.
My favorite thing about this story the various unexpected plot twists, which were exceptionally well done. Though it got off to rather a slow start, once the pace picked up it was quite exciting. The characterization of Aragorn and Éomer seemed good as long as their movie personalities were your main inspiration. The writing style was generally good; occasionally the dialogue was a little awkward or anachronistic but mostly it was fine. The OC's were quite good and I really got interested in their fates; the captain's death was very sad and moving. Overall I really enjoyed this story. Thank you for writing.
Guest chapter 11 . 5/16/2013
I'm sorry, but this Lothiriel is a moron. And shame on Eomer for listening to her right away.
Grown Up Ron chapter 49 . 4/5/2013
What no one has mentioned is that Rohan would still be better off if Eomer hadn't listed to Lothiriel.
Grown Up Ron chapter 11 . 4/5/2013
Ugg his Marshall was right, Emor betrayed his people to listen to his Queen who has no idea what she is talking about.
Grown Up Ron chapter 8 . 4/5/2013
Lothiriel is a childish idiot so sits niavely lecturing a warrior about war, very sophomoric.
gizmo1204 chapter 49 . 4/29/2012
This story is sweeping and incredible. So well done.

Will there be more epic stories about Eomer?
Feafea chapter 49 . 4/22/2012

Sunshine chapter 49 . 6/6/2008
Just amazing! It was great!
goldenshadows chapter 49 . 12/6/2005
So now i've finally finished this epic story. It was amazing, beautifully written, and everything tied together at the end perfectly. I loved Ridasha and Hilberon and i'm glad everything worked out for Ridasha in the end...i was starting to feel really sorry for her for a while! Anyway, great happy ending, and hopefully i can look forward to reading something new from both of you soon!
lindahoyland chapter 49 . 11/20/2005
It is good to see everything end happily, and I'm delighted Ridashka will lead her people.

I will miss this story very much, you had me very worried about Aragorn and Eomer.

Thanks for a great read !
viviana chapter 49 . 11/14/2005
Aw...what a beautiful last chapter! But I don't want it to end! snif, snif,...so please...write another story! ASAP!
Mystikal19 chapter 49 . 11/14/2005
Wow, this is finally the end, huh? Well, it sure was a beautiful ending, I absolutely adored it. It completely tied everything together, leaving the reader just enough for our own imagination, and telling us enough too. I think my favorite part was when Éomer was returning, and Lothiriel was trying to contain herself, but she could not so she rushed to him before he came to her. She had thought that it would be bad for a Queen to do, but the people of Rohan enjoyed it, which tells me that she and the Rohirrim will come to understand one another, something that was not happening when she was locked inside Meduseld, melancholic and thinking that they did not accept her. It was truly a beautiful touch for Éomer and Lothiriel's reunion. Very beautiful indeed. (And I expect from your next story what lies within that package Arwen gave Éomer for Lothiriel when the babe is born!)

And then the final peace between the Easterlings and the Gondorians was magnificant. I truly was touched by their sincerity to one another when they had just been in war together, truly something that would not come easily, no? Ridasha, though she did not "end up" with Hilberon, I still have hope! Arwen and Elessar are back together, very good, and hopefully Eldarion will not be too far in the future. :-)

Thank you both so much for opening this story up for us, and allowing us to read it, for it is truly a masterpiece that Tolkien would doubtlessly be proud of. It is one of the most talented works of art I have read for quite some time, and it touched me deaply, so deeply in fact, that whenever I think of the "Lord of the Rings", the "Twilight of the Gods" will not be far beyond my mind.
Aelaer chapter 49 . 11/14/2005
Alright. I think I'm going to cry. There is peace with the Easterlings. There is peace with Dunland. The two kings are reunited with their wives and are healed in body and mind. Alls well ends well. Alright, I'm going to start to cry. Endings are such a bittersweet thing *starts sobbing*

Aragorn: *rubs Laire's back gently* There, there, child. There will be more.

*sniff* Don't call me child. And no, there won't be. Timmy is leaving the fandom *sniffles* Oh, you are awesome, Katzilla, it's just that I love Timmy2's stuff as well... a lot. *sniffles*

This story was really brilliant. It was in-character, with great OCs, and a fabulous plot, terrifying cliffhangers, a scary climax, and a sweet ending *sigh*

To both of you: You are excellent authors. Timmy, you shall receive a reply from me from your email. Katzilla... you too are an awesome fan fiction writer. I know you're better with Eomer, but think you will also write Aragorn as well in the future? You two are one of the only authors that show their relationship, and in an angsty way; I do wish Timmy would continue writing, but a part of me does understand. So.. I'm putting it all on you, Katzilla *grin*

Aragorn, any last comments?

Aragorn: A few... I must thank you for not having any random, mindless beatings. Those hurt. *unconsciously rubs shoulder*

*grins* Unlike most torture-angst plots, this actually HAD a plot and a purpose.

Aragorn: Which did not make me despise it... as much.

*snickers* You got Arwen in the end.

Aragorn: *smiles* True.

See? Not too bad at all.

... I don't want to end this review. But... yes. A small part of me says I must end it, and just hope that Katzilla writes more Aragorn with her Eomer (and Aragorn splitting the hurt, like in this story ;)).

Aragorn: *groans* It will never end.

Nope, probably not.

Aragorn: So though it is good-bye... it is not the end.

Not even really good-bye. Just the end of a story. And even though Timmy is stopping, she still has to complete the story at Naice a Nilme and the alternative version of this at SOA.

Aragorn: *sighs*

And who knows, maybe Katzilla will start writing more of you...

Aragorn: *groans*

*smiles* Well. i don't feel so sad anymore. I wish both of you the best of luck in your future stories, whether they be fan fiction or original, and know that I enjoyed this fanfic so much. It was beautiful.

Aragorn: *bows* Farewell.

*nods* Navaer, mellyn nin.

novelteas74 chapter 49 . 11/14/2005
What a lovely ending to this epic story. It brought tears to my eyes. Simply wonderful. Aw, I feel emotional right now. *reviewer wipes tears from puffy eyes with the proviso that authors not look* From Eomer's homecoming to Lothiriel to Elessar's touching and wise benevolence, this chapter was perfect. Stunning. Mesmerizing. I can scarcely believe it's over but as the old cliche goes, all good things must come to an end. Love the way you included everyone in these last few chapters, especially Ridasha and Hilberon. They were among the best OC's I've read in any of these LOTR fics. There were so many twists and turns in the story yet they were all plausible and exciting. And the whole idea of writing about these different culture was so well done, you made it easy for us to imagine the events that happened. The sheer detail of plot development, societal backgrounds, even geographical description, were outstanding. Thank you so very much for sharing this masterpiece with us. It's been a true pleasure to read and review. You're the best. *Waves goodbye* (for now).
