This is fairly well done, but a bit awkward. Although Hermione's thoughts are believable, the dialogue and character actions seemed slightly off, and at times a bit extreme. I can understand why Hermione MIGHT start crying, but I feel like grabbing his hand was going a little too far.

You write the only Ron and Hermione I have ever read that I can accept the two of them being together, or at least leaning that way. Most of the time I don't like this pairing but you show it very well.

Much-needed, indeed. I'm glad you wrote a little bonding session for these two. Heaven knows they needed to reach an understanding over the whole Crookshanks-Scabbers thing. This had the right amount of tension for their age, as I'm pretty certain even Hermione wasn't fully aware of what was going on with them by the end of third year. (I figure she puzzled it out sometime over the summer between PoA and GoF.) I liked the sweet, friendship aspect of their relationship you portrayed here, and the way that you showed character development for Ron by making him take Hermione's tears just a little bit better. Well-rounded fic, very nice!

I've just read a few of your stories and I think you have got Ron and Hermione just perfect. I like this story particularly, I always wish we could see what these two are up to when Harry isn't there, and I'm taking your version as canon! One other little detail I loved: ‘The Mysterious Circumstances Surrounding Godric Gryffindor’s Untimely Demise – Foul Play or Food Poisoning?’ Haha!

I read this awhile ago, but only recently found it again, and it still reads just as sweetly. This is a very cute 'Ron and Hermione' moment, in which Ron feels very frank and honest in all the right ways, and Hermione is a lot more personable than she normally gets to be.

I really liked the detail that Ron had grown up hearing horror stories of Sirius, making what he'd said more impressive in Hermione's eyes, but that Ron himself was thinking how stupid it was to goad a convicted murderer into *more* violence. And directly calling Hermione his best friend, and making it his business to know things about her; I thought that was nicely done. I also liked how he addressed (sort of) his own insecurities about his place in the group: Harry's the hero, Hermione's the smart one-what is Ron?

It was also fun to see this from Hermione's POV, and be privy to all of her own insecurities, and how she handles them. The dual admission of being afraid was sweet, as was the confrontation with Malfoy. It's cute to see how much Ron's pride in her matters.

i was so upset they gave that line to hermione, too. as much as i love her, that was just ron's line. kloves seems to hate ron, though. even harry seems to cower in hermione's shadows in the movies...
