Yeah, I had always hoped that the Acheron picked up the seaman (warley?)... it was so sad when he died!

You know, almost no fics are written about the French Captain (in Master and Commander)- which is a shame, because despite the fact that you don't really see him, he's such an intriguing character.

Anyway, I'll end my rambling-

it was a cool fic you wrote- I'm glad Hornblower and co. were ok.

I've never seen Master and Commander but I want to. And I love Horatio Hornblower.

I just last weekend got into the Hornblower movies and absolutely love them. I do have to say that Pellew my favorite apart from Horatio himself. Archie and Bush coming in a close second, of course. I really enjoyed the father/son relationship between Pellew and Horatio. This story really showed his thoughts towards his protégé and the sadness the crew, especially Matthews and Styles would feel if they lost him. And I LOVE the little Indie taking out a French ship of the Line. That is SO Pellew, both in the movies and real life.

Great story. Can you remember any other really good Pellew and/or Pellew and Horatio story?

Good golly! You've done well with this story. I love it! I don't get emotional over a fanfic, but this is the 1st one that made me weep! My hat is off to you!

oh great ending. i love both horatio hornblower and master and commander so i think that this was a great story. keep up the good work.

Very nice hybrid you have here - you chose well by taking this particular scene out of M&C and inserting it into the Hornblower universe. You seem to have an excellent grasp of the technical aspects of sailing a square-rigger and that hightens the drama considerably. You also have a very solid grasp of the main characters, Pellew in particular, which made for engrossing reading. I love the complexity of the man, and you brought it out beautifully here. Well done!
