Well done!
Brunette chapter 1 . 1/10/2007
That insom...imsom...yeah, that stuff's what Skittery and I have in common right now, so I'm reading the NML FanFic Award nominees. Now, I'm not gonna lie, several of them I read about the first sentence and went, "eh, not so much." But this definitely wasn't one of them.

This is actually pretty amazing. I have to thank you, first, for not making the pairing Snittery-that annoys the crap out of me because, while Skittery has very little personality, Snitch is at an absolute zero, and every time he's used, I'd just as soon consider it an OC. And I'd rather read a girl OC than a guy.

Just in case you were wondering my logic behind that.

So, no, the pairing is good, for a change. The voice is...I would call it perfect, but there's some things I just can't see a New York newsboys saying in his head. Some things he says are lyrical in a good way (like Race's eyes-that was seriously beyond perfect), and some of it was a bit much so. It's possible, though. Your Skittery's probably more of a philosopher than mine; my Skittery's a lot grittier.

This is going to be a long review, just so you know.

Racetrack was good. The descriptions of him were 100% of amazing, and way-unique. I only wish I'd thought of the "nicotine stains on his pupils" and the "muddy well" quality of his eyes. That was like genius.

Overall, I really adore this story, and that's saying something, because very little slash impresses me. Too often, it takes the boys way too far out of character, or way too far out of historical accuracy for me to even appreciate anything good the author might have put into it. This is definitely not one of those cases. Characterization, voice, historical tone (I loved the 1900's slang, by the way)-everything was spot-on.

Good luck in the Awards. I only wish I could vote for more than one; nuclearxkid's "Good Luck With the Lion" is still my favorite from the list, but this is definitely close.

Anyway, good work. Hope you've enjoyed my endless rambling...which has reached an end.

Queen Kez the Wicked chapter 1 . 6/29/2004
Yum.. I never did get around to reading this one, though of course I have no idea why. And I must say that I was crazy.. brilliant as usual, dear. I'm so glad you're reposting your old stuff, maybe a little editing here and there, maybe not.. at least it's back up!

-

The ending of this story is perfect. Too much of the slash I've read in this fandom ends up the same way.. boy gets boy, no questions asked.. but this ending.. I dunno. It's open. It's positive - open but still satisfying.

I love it.

Mondie chapter 1 . 4/17/2004
Misi, my dear, my lovely, my hearts and flowers and sunshine.
Only you could possibly take a story that I adored so much and freaking make it better. BETTER! Misi, I didn't think you could possibly improve it. And you DID. The part about his eyes, which was always my favorite part of this story, was incredible. Misprint! I love you and can't believe your talent. Oh, my lovely Misi!
I can't even begin to tell you how much I love you.
Dear, please accept my apologies on not seeing this earlier. And please, please, PLEASE, for the love of GOD, keep writing. Or I will never forgive you, ever.
*hugs*
Forever in awe of you,
Mondie

A new Misprint story? Wow, this is cause for celebration. *breaks out the bubbly* Oh, wait, sorry. You can't have any, you're too young. *sigh* Hehe. J/k. Anyway, on to the story!
Ahh, turn of the century slang-which I love, but...*hides* I forgot what gun moll is...I get the general idea, but...*sigh* Oh well. Cool anyway. I do love to learn new slang. ;D
Hehe...I DO however remember "it ain't snap" ;D
God I wanna start using that. *shifty eyes*
Umm...back on track.
Ah...you must love Sage!Racetrack...you just...must. There's nothing else to it. ;D
Aw...realization...just a huge happy grin. Very nicely done.
"You can practically read his soul like a headline. And I can't believe what I'm reading" *melts*
M...
Lovely, lovely job as ever, m'dear. I like the flow of the narration, the feelings, the slang, and that last bit...ah.
Love to see more from you, hon. XD

Oh my GOD. I love this so much. This was the first fic I ever put on my favorites list and I'm SO glad it's back up. (I've been pimping your writing to TSB, so the first thing she said when I signed on to AIM was "Misi put up a story!" because she never got to read things before you tore them all down, darn you... Where was I?)
Right. I love this.
My only CC would be that you have a slight problem with punctuation in dialogue; if there's a 'he said' after the sentance, it should end with a comma instead of a period and the h in 'he' after shouldn't be capitalized. But that's the ONLY problem.
