Unseen Watcher chapter 1 . 10/6/2003
Nice reflective piece with my two favorite Saiyuki characters.
ruishi chapter 1 . 10/6/2003
I like the story... it's very sweet:) I love SanzoHakkai's... they usually have so much substance and depth. It's a kind of relationship that really makes you think on how two grown men would comfort and treat each other upon discovering that they have intimate feelings for each other. Love the imagery:)
flatfoot chapter 1 . 10/5/2003
slow, deep and capturing the most intricate details of the two. just the way i like it ;) this was truly a beautiful sanzo & hakkai piece.
Nightfall Rising chapter 1 . 10/5/2003
I think this fic will not be often reviewed. There's something grave and beautiful about it that becomes so weighty by the end that the reader wants to sit and let the story have been, and is not moved to comment. Posting this kind of story is something of a brave and selfless act. It doesn't give a cheap thrill, and when an audience is left thinking its only answer is silence, until it's startled into a reminder that it's supposed to applaud now. Unfortunately, ffnet doesn't have lights to dim or a curtain to pull.

You had a few problems with awkward language, mostly around the rain and the petting of Sanzo's hair (which, I have to say, I felt was extraneous to the story. You had enough connection and communication and caring and appreciation between them already without breaking character). I wasn't sure whether you were trying to do something with the commas in those four 'the rain makes' sentences or not (if so, I think you could probably have let the words speak for themselves without adding funky punctuation), and 'petting' is certainly an enigmatic verb to parse, but these things were a jolt for me.

But I admit to oversensitivity. There were a lot of things that were very good about this fic, aside from the overall tone. It's very easy to turn a taciturn and moody character into a boiling pot of angst, and you held off. The description of meditation was informed, which is always a nice touch, and the overall spiritualism of the first part felt like it might have been right on target, particularly the part about the inability of disconnected lines to confine an organic shape. That and the presence of nothingness in ritual made me think, "Ah! This could be what Buddhism is to Genjo Sanzo. It's screwed up, but he could well think this way." And at the end, I thought you finally caught Hakkai, in his ability to manipulate brief words to purpose. A good note to finish on.

I love this story. It has a very calm atmosphere around it. A different kind of Sanzo/Hakkai's rain/angst fic. _ Cool!

Please write more. Cheers~

Fall chapter 1 . 10/5/2003
Beautiful prose. That's the only thing dancing on my mind right now. I've read some of your stories by the way, and I'm glad to see an 83 from you.

There is a certain unspoken something between Hakkai and Sanzo, and I liked the way you've used the references to "The Little Prince". Very subtle, yet powerful message.

I enjoyed this fic very much.
