Eowyn was never in love with Aragorn; it was merely infatuation felt by a very young woman for the dashing hero who rescued them from the grips of Saruman. The fact that he was King of Gondor was the icing on the cake and I'm sure she had starry visions of herself as Queen. If her marriage to Aragorn was unhappy because he was still in love with Arwen, then it really serves her right for being too ambitious. Particularly when Faramir - who really loved her and would have made a better husband - was waiting in the wings. I have to say that Aragorn sounds somewhat self-pitying in this story and makes me want to give him a good shake. Even if his marriage was for political reasons, why didn't he just make the most of it. Surely in the years they were together, some sort of fondness must have existed between them? Eowyn couldn't have been that horrible to live with, could she?

You actually had me crying for Aragorn, a character I usually find unlikeable in both book and movie incarnations. Bravo!

Aww, poor everyone, really, apart from Elrond! Why can't you let Arwen stay behind? Aragorn's child, Arwen, it so sweet!

This was very good! But it seems that Aragorn has been dying a lot in your stories lately. It seems a little selfish of him, even if he is so depressed...but it's your story, so ignore me. Anyway, you are really good at Aragorn angst...continue writing it, but I would like to see a LOTR fic that has no suicide, which I know full well that you can do(the first one I read was excellent!) Thanks for this, Catmint, and I hope I don't sound harsh at all. :o(
