momgobloo chapter 1 . 2/2 Great story! I've only recently found this fandom and your stories, and I'm enjoying them very much! |
ShalWright chapter 1 . 5/4/2016 Nicely written! I found your story because I have just started publishing one with the same name...it came from a scene I had written in a later chapter, and I realized it was an overall theme both for the Fellowship itself as well as for the actions of my OC. I had completely forgotten about that quote! I'm going to check out what else you've written - feel free to try my story out, as well : ) |
Guest chapter 1 . 2/26/2015 nicely done. careful differentiating between tree roots and road routes though. |
Toaofwriting chapter 1 . 7/27/2014 A great story. Wonderful job characterizing Elrond and Glorfindel, and analyzing the reasons for the choosing of the members of the Company. |
Chipmunk94 chapter 1 . 9/20/2013 *sigh* I love Glorfindel. I really wish he'd been in the movie :( Not that I don't like Arwen, I do, but her inclusion in Fellowship of the Ring was kinda pointless. |
Petrichora chapter 1 . 7/14/2013 E: "Mirkwood's king is pleased by very little these days." G: "And because you have yet to thoroughly offend Thranduil this year, you have decided to send his son into what might be considered certain death." -Had to bite my lip to keep from smiling at this exchange. Ah, tension between the Elf-rulers! And horray, a fic with Glorfindel. :) |
Alfirineth chapter 1 . 10/15/2011 I read this story long ago as a lurker and am so glad that I was able to find it again! So many things explained logically and you caught the voice of Elrond wonderfully well. |
bjelka chapter 1 . 6/1/2009 Because I know the further tide of events, I can say with certainty that it is NOT a fool's hope. But although you found very good explanations for Elrond, one cannot dismiss Glorfindel's doubts. As usual, an admirably written story. |
Malara chapter 1 . 10/31/2004 Yes, I have always wondered WHAT ELROND WAS THINKING! WAS HE INSANE! And after much thought, I have come to the conclusion that he IS! :) I LOVED the beginning (SP!)! That was funny! I love how your stories have serious, dramatic themes, but they're humor in it! It makes the story so much more interesting to read if it's a serious story, but it's funny at the same time! :) Wow... the ending was awesome! You write in a very Tolkien-ish style (if that doesn't make sense, it was meant as a compliment, lol!)! That was a awesome story! It had a perfect combination of serious matters and humor! Oh, it was good! Malara :) |
Melphie chapter 1 . 7/28/2004 Oh my goodness I love this story so much. My sis just showed it to me and I think it is one of the coolest things ever. It answered so many of the questions that I was pondering in my head just as endlessly as Glorfindel. Excellent fic! I eagerly await your next story! (as does my ever-devoted sister) :) ~Melphie |
KissTheRainGirl12489 chapter 1 . 7/27/2004 Once again your story is the idea of Elrond and Glorfy is that, but your story seemed to lack bout this.I'll just leave yuo alone so yuo don't kill me. |
Jazmin3 Firewing chapter 1 . 7/8/2004 Ouch. Someone's been bitten by the pessimism bug! And somebody else has very, very little hope left. Let's hope Glorfindel gets whatever was shoved up his arse outta there and improves his temper soon! Nice vignette. |
Victoria Hughes chapter 1 . 12/1/2003 An excellent story, as always, O Great Writer. :) But I must object (as others may have before me); *did* Saruman know that Elrond carried Vilya? I thought that only the Ringbearers (and Cirdan) knew who held the Three Elven Rings. Otherwise, this is a wonderfully enjoyable read. You do something that no one else I can think of (except maybe Dwimordene) ever seems to remember to do, and that is to take into account the mystical aspects leading rational characters to do the irrational. I enjoy Glorfindel and Elrond anyway, and your take on both characters is as lovable as ever. My only regret is the lack of Machevellian!Gandalf, who may have also thought that Merry and Pippin would make a good distraction from the *actual* Ringbearer. ;; *hugs Thundera* ~~Vikki |
itarilde-elenastar chapter 1 . 11/22/2003 wow! that's awesome! i really loved how you wrote that. for me it puts a whole new light on what happened...fabulous...ttyl! |
bryn bnw chapter 1 . 9/7/2003 Goodness, I'm gone for two weeks and you go and post a library. *grin* I was so struck by your portrayal of Glorfindel that I'm going to mention him first. I've never seen him written as thus. I like it. :) He kind of reminds me of Your Thranduil *glances fondly at the Elven-king, who glowers in warning*. You're right-Glorfindel IS one of the most powerful Elves. I've often wondered why he was so loyal to Elrond. Isn't he a ruler in his own right? He might even be more powerful than Elrond, if it came down to the line. Hm... Interesting, very interesting. Maybe he's lost his taste for leadership after his trip to Mandos. I've always wondered how you'd write Glorfindel. Needless to say, it definitely doesn't disappoint. So, how would Dear Thranduil fare against the Balrog Slayer? (Well, he wouldn't win, but I bet he could get in a few punches or bites or something.) *snicker* There's something very amusing about Elrond cringing from Glorfindel. Rather Elfling-like of the Fearless Noldor Leader. As Glorfindel was reborn, do you think Elrond ever pulls an "I'm older than you" deal? Glorfindel wasn't mentioned in the Last Alliance, so I'm assuming he wasn't around at that time. "It was not entirely unusual for Glorfindel to question the sanity of Rivendell’s lord, but he tended to be more diplomatic about it." -Had me in hysterics. Best line by far. *lol* I love how you delve into Elrond's reasoning. Each member of the Fellowship gets his own little plug. The fact that Gimli is well-traveled intrigues me greatly. Where has he been? What has he done? Oh the possibilities! :) Nice bit about the tension between Aragorn and Boromir. Foolish? Foolish like a fox... ;) |
