I really enjoyed this. I think you've done a smashing job capturing Jack's character. I like your OC too. :-)

Although this is an older story, I am only finding it now. It's very well written and I love your use of words :) Not the happier ending one anticipates. I'm impressed.

Fleet

Lovely. Very in-character, which is a jewel of exceeding rarity. You nicely captured the deviltry & romance of Jack that would make a very fortunate lady of property chuck it all to run off with him.

Because I like this fic so much, I will point out two nitpicks that jumped out at me:

"bedroom" was not a word in use at the time. "Chamber" would be more period-appropriate.

Doorknobs were also not in use. Door latches, yes.

Wow. That's one lesson I'd like every Mary Sue out there to learn. Pretty fic, bitter-sweet and a more than convincing characterization of Jack.

I actually learnt something important from this too: don't let a summary fool you ) Sorry, but from the summary it really sounded like your average JOUJack-ff, which this one is clearly not. _
