You've got a pretty good story here, and you did well at getting the characters right. However, it doesn't make much sense that Mike can afford to pay $4500 for a car, when Archie is all the time complaining that Mike doesn't pay rent.

Write more fics about Archie buying a car. Write a first fanfic on the Jefferson's.

Good story, but I suppose that cars would be hard-pressed to go too many places in the city anyway. In Manhattan, for example, traffic is so backed up thatr the New York Subway got passengers in the 1970s anyway, in spite of being dirty, slow, graffiti-covered, and infested with bums. While the situation is better in Astoria, Queens, there would still be traffic concerns, bad American car or no bad American car.

I wonder if Archie would favor the Volkswagen more if he knew the Nazis had originally conceived of it, anyway. ("Hippies and 'fags'", eh?)

Dude...this is as good as an actual episode of "All In The Family." You have these characters nailed - especially Archie, and everyone knows you can't have a good "AITF" fic if you can't get Archie right. Abso-frickin'-lutely hysterical!

This was an interesting story and it was great to see everyone in character. Poor Archie.. not only does the world do him wrong (or so he thinks) but so do Edith's toenails. Loved that part!
