Fantastic chapter!

A great story. I am looking forward to reading the next chapter.

I enjoyed the first two chapters, but in response to your author's note at the beginning of the third chapter asking where would the fun be in revealing the eventual pairing, well from the perspective of a reader, I don't want to become invested in a story that has a pairing in which I have absolutely no interest, no matter how well written that story may be. By saying it's not a straight-up, normal Harry/Hermione story, and tagging Daphne, a character with whom Harry never interacted in canon, as a main character in this story, it makes me think this is going to end up a Harry/Hermione/Daphne triad. So as I'm not interested in a Harry/Hermione/Daphne triad — or even in a Harry/Daphne story, which I suspect is the other alternative — I'm bowing out now. I won't be following the story, but I wish you luck and success with it.

Excellent chapter! Enjoyed the introspection on Riddle's motives. Really serves to flesh out his (Riddle's) character and to deepen the story as well as grounding it in some form of reality. Very, very well done!

Welll damn. This is an amazing story so far. Love the way you flesh out the characters and salazar is a great mentor. He has a good mix between caring and impartial teacher. Also love how he and sal have fleshed out a rough motive for the power structure of both riddle and dumbles. Will be intersting to see if the pursuit of immortality has damaged riddles psyche and he lost track of his end goal. Cannot wait to read more.

Hermione is such a stinker... Interesting introspection on Hermione's issues. So is the going to be H/Hr or H/D? Or are you going to keep us in suspense? Enjoyed Harry's verbal sparring with Salazar. Salazar is right - Hermione does have a Dumbledore problem. Harry's gong to need to get past that before she can really be of use to him. And now with the Triwizard Tournament on the horizon, we need to see how this Hermione is going to react to Harry's name coming out of the goblet...

Excellent chapter! Love the pedagogic interchange between Harry and Salazar. Very well done. Would love some backstory on all of this. Enjoy seeing a Harry that explored the Chamber of Secrets (what a travesty that canon Harry did not make use of this incredible opportunity!). Love the thought of him encountering a portrait of Salazar Slytherin and interacting with it. I like how Salazar is trying to get Harry to both educate and think for himself, as well as encouraging him to seize the power available to him. Great job!

I have to ask though. Is this a Harry/Hermione pairing?

If yes, then I'd need to push reading the fic for later. Nothing against you, it's just I'm bored from the thousands of Hermione/Harry fics and searching for something else.

Seems like at Harry and Hermione are becoming closer already. Well, no wonder if Harry is applying himself more (and thus Ron drifting away more).
The basilisk being Salazar's trigger button is funny. :D
