audreyoctopus chapter 5 . 8/3 Great chapter! I feel so sorry for poor Indigo. At least we know she did get away from her father in the end. The other tributes seem very interesting, but what I love most is how all Indigo really hears them talk about is their families. You can really tell how much she wants one of her own - her father doesn't count - and it is so sad. And so beauutiful. Awesome work as usual, and have a great day/night! -Audrey :) |
Apatrick chapter 5 . 8/2 Strong chapter very true emotion |
Radio Free Death chapter 1 . 7/28 [Her childlike Reaping dress stopped fitting her two years ago, and they don't have enough money to buy a new one. She's taken out plenty of tesserae, even if it's not as much as others, and she doesn't want to be Reaped in a too-small dress that makes her look infantile when she's almost a young woman] Why doesn't she sell the dress to get a bigger one? Or, if she won't get anything out of it, it's really wasteful not to recycle the material or at least give it to someone who needs clothes. [They ignore the miles of collapsing tenements brimming with drug dens and turf wars, where children starve and every face is creased with pain. The Reaping is the only time the entire nation sees all of Six, and the Capitol will not allow the other Districts to see how desolate and bleak life here has become in the forty years since the Dark Days.] Interesting! Though earlier she said she'd rather be be in One or Four because they look better than her district, but doesn't make the connection that the media probably only shows the better part as they do with Six. [Indigo left school at age thirteen to begin working on the assembly lines, which would be illegal in most Districts. In Six, they simply don't care. There's too many kids to round up who are at home high or running around with the gangs, and they always need another pair of hands in the factories.] Putting kids in schools in an oppressive regime isn't just for education - it's to indoctrinate them. If the Capitol doesn't care what Six's kids are up to, it's really easy for them to slip through the cracks, as they no doubt do here during Reaping Day. How are they even sure they have every kid present? [Her name is in there nineteen times this year; her father got fired two months ago and her meager factory wages barely cover food for the both of them, not to mention the rent for their dingy apartment. She just huddles in the mass of teenage girls with their cheap makeup streaked by the rain, waiting silently for the Reaping to begin.] Okay, the district is so poor that nobody can even afford an umbrella or socks, or anything to protect them from the rain, but they can afford to put on makeup? Why would they care? Why would they bother? [and she'll be able to move into her own apartment in two years anyway.] How can she be able to afford it? With two people working they can't even afford the home they're in now. [She might not have any friends, but some of the girls at least know her name and recognize her from their earlier years of school.] This is just really forced. It's like somehow the whole district knows who she is even though she has no friends and hasn't gone to school in a while. It would make way more sense if she's near the kids who work in the factories as well. This all just seems set up so that she can be singled out when her name is called. [and it's all Indigo can do to keep from screaming and collapsing in front of the entire nation.] Why can't anyone be terrified about being reaped? Supposedly she is, but she also wants to not look upset because she'll be filmed? Why would she care? She doesn't support the games. So far the Capitol wants everything to look as clean and sanitized as possible so by pretending everything's okay she's passively admitting she's alright with what they're doing. |
audreyoctopus chapter 4 . 7/28 Oh my goodness. This is my favourite chapter yet. Your writing is just so beautiful - I hope that one day I can write the way you do! It's both horrible and laughable that both her arenas were jungles - the arena she survived in, and the arena she died in. I love that. Also, your names for the rest of the Victors - perfect! I love them. Fantastic chapter, and have a great day/night! -Audrey :) |
SongofFete chapter 4 . 7/27 This was brilliant! Indigo's first games...I want to see more, I NEED to see more. When she rubbed the mud all over herself - honestly, I think that's the first time I've ever seen a tribute camoflage themself right at the start. And the Quell...I want to grab her and hug her and tell her that she's no coward, she's the bravest tribute ever and she's going to do something so, so important and be remembered forever. |
audreyoctopus chapter 3 . 7/24 Oh, gosh, this was beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I love how the girl in the pink dress was Indigo's mother - it's also heart-breakingly poetic, as memories of the girl were always just out of reach... until they weren't. It reminds me of how freedom and peace were always out of reach for Indigo, and her memories of her mother reflect that, in my opinion. Gorgeous. Loved it. Amazing. Looking forward to the next chapter :) Have a great day/night! -Audrey :) |
audreyoctopus chapter 2 . 7/24 Oh, gosh, I loved this, too. 'She'll at least have done something of her own accord before she dies; she'll at least have left a mark on this world, no matter how brief it will end up being.' This sentence was AMAZING. I love how Indigo wants to stay Indigo - she doesn't want the Capitol to take away her individuality, as well as her life. I also love Penelope, I love how Indigo's winnings saved her and Indigo never even knew about it. It makes me wonder how many others there were. Awesome chapter! |
audreyoctopus chapter 1 . 7/24 Oh, wow, I loved this. It was absolutely haunting - 'her eyes, grey-blue and dead, dead like her mother, dead like the five children she murdered in the arena, dead like the girl she was before Gorgana called her name' this quote, to me, summed up perfectly what her victory was like for her. She won, according to the Capitol. but did she really win? I'm going to go read the rest now :) Have a great day/night! -Audrey |
paddock chapter 1 . 7/23 This is a very intriguing idea to use colors to symbolize each of the chapters. I hope it doesn’t become too hard to come up with scenes relating to the colors. I am interested to see more about Indigo’s story. Gorgana seems like a very unpleasant escort. Surprised that Indigo made five kills since I always thought the morphlings did not do much. |
hellomynameisv chapter 3 . 7/23 I love this. Giving a so-called side character so much more meaning and life without ruining what the books wanted is hard, but you make it work. :) |
WhiteRed1410 chapter 2 . 7/20 Waiting for more. :) |
SongofFete chapter 2 . 7/20 I love her. I've got a real thing for Districts 5 and 6 (my first headcanon victor is Mercedes too because...aren't they all? ;) ) and I'm going to be following Indigo's colours. |
Apatrick chapter 1 . 7/19 This is a very intriguing idea and a good begining. |
District-9-Winters chapter 1 . 7/18 Actually this is really gooooooood. Indigo seems toooooo be a strooooong main character, there's soooo much toooooo expand upooon with the Mooorphlings. Gray is a goood first cooloor fooor District 6, I can't wait tooo see the next ooooooone |
OnyxJinx chapter 1 . 7/18 Interesting Victor to work with. It's so easy for those to write about characters that are more fleshed out. Taking a quiet, drug addled Victor with no name is quite the task! I look forward to see where you go with this story. The colors are a wonderful idea, since that was something she held oh so dear. |
