This ash really sucks, despite being trained mostly 7 day a week by one of the strongest trainer in the world, he keep exactly the same pathetic skills and level as his canon self or a canon self learning gary.
at least in the anime his indigo league path could be explained by the fact he trained mostly alone without having personal master or parent teach him.

from pokeworld population view, only having 2 badges earned legally (by defeating the official leader using the official gym rules and pokemon number) and ending disqualified from the league tournament 8th final for disobedient pokemon despite being personally tutored by one of the world's strongest trainer during almost a year would be pathetic and ashaming

lets hope Ash does better in the gyms and leagues in this than he did in cannon, and i sure hope Ash catches Mew in this, she's my favorite Pokemon besides Pikachu, and i think she's the perfect psychic type for Ash in my book... maybe that mirage Mew from the mirage Pokemon mastermind could become real and joins Ash's team, as to how... i think Ash could meet Ho-oh at the Tin tower in Johto when Team Rocket stole the crystal bells and she gave Ash one of her rainbow feathers, and it's magic gave the mirage Mew a real body, i mean if Ho-oh could bring new life on Suicune, Entai and Raiko, i don't see why it's feather can't do the same on the mirage Mew, good ideas right?, good luck.

For the moment, its look my second theory was the right one, your OC are mainly here to explain how an dumb guy like Ash was able to qualify for the indigo league and reach top16 instead of ending like the two unknown palet trainers drop out.
I will read the chapter 3, but if effectively the fic is only a more consistent explanation of ash achievements, i will leave.

Or edward is just here to explain how ash was able to obtain 8 badges and reach the top16 of kanto league despite being one of the worst trainers (in skills, knowledge and intelligence) in pokeworld history?
Hope for the first one, because having ash not doing really better than anime despite being trained by a multi-champion would only make him look far worse than his pathetic anime self.
