yellow 14 chapter 1 . 7/24 I’m not familiar with the series. (Or really anything you write for. it’s why I went for something near the top. Sorry.) but this is a very vivid piece that really draws me in. It’s dark, slightly disturbing and very well done. Keep writing |
Captain Omnitron chapter 1 . 7/15 I got chills reading this, and I legit felt the pure agony of this tale as well. So all in all, great on all parts! |
Disciple of Ember chapter 1 . 7/11 I will admit that I had to look up Chiharu before reading this as I'm not super familiar with Killer Instinct's cast, but even after just checking on the (sadly sparse) wiki details, she sounded like a really cool character. I'm by no means an expert on traditional Japanese storytelling, but I though that the way this one was told fit the source quite well aside from some dipping into English slang and phrases. The whole thing came across as the start of a serious ghost story, which is a solid delivery considering that's exactly what ends up happening to her later down the line. It had that air of tragedy, creepy atmosphere, and that hint of surreal confusion that gave that bit of bite you really expect from such a story. Definitely harkens back to those chilling stories of dark dealings in the mountains and unearthly creatures in the forests. The translated text was a nice touch as well. No idea if it is grammatically correct as I'm afraid I'm a one-language-chump, but the delivery certainly feels well executed, and gives it a very subtitled-movie feel to the reading. Not something you see very often in these kinds of works, much less one that reads well like this. I think the only spot where it felt a little jarring was when she had the long curse towards the cultists, but that was inevitable given it was the most she spoke in a single period throughout the story. Other than that, the sparing use of dialogue was well-balanced and made a good combination with the choice in delivery. Overall I'd say it was a really nice piece. It's certainly gotten me a lot more interested in learning about her character than I was previously, and it was a unique and compelling read. Very nice writing and a solid execution of a style that is rarely seen in literature, much less fanfiction. |
fightingchampion chapter 1 . 7/8 Cool |
Traitor of All Traitors chapter 1 . 7/6 I’m sorry, but this didn’t make me feel better after reading it. When I saw the long play of Hisako’s story on YouTube, it just felt like she became a hero and not just some ghost. |
Darkrealmist v.2 chapter 1 . 7/6 Spooky! |
