While I haven't watch the show myself as of yet (waiting to just bing it all) I find the pacing moving a bit too fast. For one, the show don't tell rules needs to be apply here. We never exactly spend time with Courtney and Peter to solidify their friendship, its mostly mentioned that they are best friends and they so happen to meet each other in blue valley. It would of been nice if you gave those two a chapter before having them met again when they were teenagers.
Not only that, this isn't like the comics or other medias were we know that the jsa and avengers are very important group; the first chapter is more so having us as reader interpret that they are all important individuals who either live or die, and leaving behind their legacy. The first chapter should of really showcase who are the jsa and avengers? Why should the reader care if they live or die? Who are the group of villians? So forth. Its a writing story where you have ounces of time to tell what goes on compare to a tv show.
In my personal honest opinion, Peter shouldn't be born with powers. Infact his mom and dad shouldn't be tied to hero work at all. I know technically speaking they were secert agents in the comics, but that takes away what makes Peter who he is. And that he was giving powers by freak accident; anyone could of been biting by that spider, anyone could of been spider-man, but the spider bit Peter. His parents shouldn't make him who will be instead his aunt and uncle should be the people to shape him who he will be. If you were to go my route, alot of the things could still happen like Peter still being able to help Courtney, his relationship with her growing stronger, him getting bit by a spider, and him learning power and responsibility.
If I were to say something positive about this is that the set up leading to a much different hero group that's define by legacy alone. Its really cool and interesting, might be worth to see where it goes.
I don't know how much you care about writing but please take my suggestion to heart and better improve how you approach to writing a story. It'll take time and you might hate it, but trust mr that time and patience would make a really good story. See ya whenever.
