As observation, i could noted the manner of Mokoto to deals with the problems, is flawed in certain aspects, because looks like he was experimenting with all his actions, than has a formal plan to do the things, and unfortunately this brought as consequences certain incidents.

First, he chose refuses the support to Naofumi, that brought as result that the shield hero harbors a grudge in him, even getting to far to insults Saint-14 out spite Mokoto, that could means that now helps Naofumi would be harder, because even if Mokoto didn't lose the benefits of the king, he also cannot supports Naofumi with this, as the shield hero don't wants anything with Mokoto.

Second, by the outcome of the previous battle, Mokoto ended be considered like an abuser by Itsuki and Motoyasu, bringing as consequence that Mokoto ended in the black list of the other two heroes, meaning that now he don't have the support of any legendary hero, leaving more divided the team of legendary heroes, as Naofumi, Motoyasu and Itsuki wouldn't wants to work in good terms with Mokoto, making more harder to the Guardian helps his fellow heroes.

And now, he killed an innocent dragon by the bigotry and fear of the villagers, causing an outcome that created a possible strain in the relationship with his companions, bringing more possibles problems to his team.

I only hope that Mokoto can fixes everything somehow, like finds a way to proves Naofumi that he don't betrayed him, he was trying to finds another way to helps him, as he noted that everyone were against him, and that Mokoto finds a way to ammends the recent outcome after killed the dragon, as looks like he unlocks something like the curse series, that made that his companions now harbors possible fears toward Mokoto.

things are no doubt going to be complicated soon enough

If Motoyasu and Itsuki thinks that they can brings down a Guardian of Destiny, i hope that Mokoto can gives them a really good lesson about don't mess with the Guardians, because they two are only nerds and geeks that only plays video games, but i doubt that they even had combat experience in real life beforehand, while that the Guardians are warriors that since their reborns, they are capable to deals with threats that makes appears the waves of the calamity like a joke.

Also, i hope that Mokoto would supports Naofumi during the rigged duel, because to this point, Motoyasu and Itsuki are hostile with him, making a good idea get back the good graces of Naofumi, to counts with other hero as ally, and supports him in the duel could be a good method to proves Naofumi that the Guardian was always on his side.

Some words missing here but interesting story and if Itsuki thinks he can try to talk the guardian out by freeing his ‘slave’ than old luck with that. He treated his party member with respect and not a slave idiot, and good luck with the ego fanatics who think thye can take on a warlock, he’s a giant compared to them.

Unless Naofumi gets out of his mood to hear the guardian out he’ll just be a jerk as a lot. And stringer than Saint-14? Has he even met him?

Also, i hope that Mikoto finds a way to ammends Naofumi or get his trust again, after denied the support in the trial, because while Naofumi keeps a hostile attitude toward Mikoto, the Guardian couldn't helps him easily.

Then i vote that maybe Mikoto could ammends him during the events of the rigged trial, where Mikoto could uses his intelligence and powers as warlock, to makes a trick to helps Naofumi, or set a trap to exposes the cheating of Bitch and Trash, making that the shield hero can see that the sword hero is in his side, and even that maybe he learns that Mikoto was whom took his gear, to prevents the Bitch of steal it.

If Naofumi can last for hundreds of years and kill thousands of Vex in the infinite forest, then I’ll consider him stronger, but before that, he can keep on dreaming about being stronger than Saint-XIV.

Naofumi said that he would stronger thant Saint-14? keeps dreaming boy, you are a simply kid that barely learns to uses the shield, while Saint-14 is a veteran with thousands years of experience, even he was the first member of the Vanguard and also helped to builds the very city that is below to the Traveler.

Perhaps Naofumi could be a matches to him during the endgame parts, but most of plot of the story, he would be a flea in comparison to Saint-14. Even i would likes see how much last Naofumi in the Infinite forest before to be overwhelmed and killed by the Vex.
