Joy in Nancy Ville when I saw this posting! Yay to me, for me! I really enjoy this version of Liz: she seems a happy go lucky type, a perfect companion for the very- conscious -of -everything Lorelai. Lorelai needs a good friend; Liz may be fine (but I am always a bit suspicious when it comes to Liz and her tendencies). Rory had a good little friend in "Jets". Will seems a very good and loving man, but apparently makes Liz feel like a real screwup. Seems that Liz and Lorelai had created a sisterhood for themselves - what happens if, when Crazy Carrie comes around? No appearance of Luke here, little mention of him either (except Lorelai now has the appearance of an older and very handsome Luke in her head). I have been wondering how things went with the talk between Rachel and Luke. Glad that Lorelai has a way back to the inn. Thanks so much. LOL – Jets! I can absolutely see Lorelai hearing that and just running with it. I love that we get a sneak peek at the dynamic between Liz and Will, from both of their perspectives. It’s interesting to “see” them all sizing each other up too; Will being a bit weary of trusting Lorelai, Lorelai judging Liz a bit, Liz not actually sizing anyone up and just being a free spirit.

I’m so excited to see what you have in store for Lorelai’s friendship with Liz. They have just the right amount of similarity with just the right amount of differences. As you’ve pointed out, they both wanted to do their own thing and ran away to make it happen. There’s a sense of rebellion that way. An added bonus is that I never really thought about how well the two of them could relate regarding their feelings about being disappointments, or at least labeling themselves as disappointments. It’s interesting that my view on each of their families made me feel like their situations were different, but when you look at it from Liz and Lorelai’s perspective, they’re actually more the same. The best part about the relationship is their differences though. You can already get a glimpse of how good Liz could be for Lorelai and I’m sure we’ll be able to say the same about Lorelai’s impact on Liz. It’ll be fun to see it all play out while also seeing how that one relationship might change others.

Also, I can’t forget to mention how much I enjoyed duct tape being compared to mother-spit. You’ve found another great chapter title too! I love that song and it's surprising how well it fits with this chapter :-)

I have been very neglectful in reviewing but this chapter made me do it ... which is odd since there’s no Luke. And yet, it’s my favorite so far. I love seeing Danes family dynamic and some Lorelai/Liz bonding. If it makes you feel better I dropped all my essential work I’m supposed to be doing it to read it because I have no self-restraint either.

Love the chapter titles. I am flashing back in a good way.

Young Liz. Maybe a young Lorelai can keep her from being the... uh... Well, some of what later Liz became? :-)

Loving it! I thought perhaps this would be the end and was delighted that there are six more chapters to look forward too!

Hee! I can't get enough of Luke and Lorelai fighting. Before I go there, I'll just tell you again how much I adore Mia and how she's honestly trying to protect both of her pseudo kids from each other. She's a mama bear in the best way possible, even if it means she has to tear Luke a new one.

The encounter in Doose's is my favorite part of this chapter. It's Lorelai in her purest form looking out for Rory and herself and the fact that it knocks Luke back a few pegs is icing on the cake. I'm impressed that he walked away from that and learned something about himself. It make me chuckle that he decided to "be ready for her next time."

Hmm, Luke is waiting for one woman and can't wait for another...does that imply he's waiting for Rachel and can't wait for Lorelai? Or is he waiting for Lorelai and can't wait for Rory to be older too? Guess I'll have to read on to find out. I'll bite my tongue on that Rio de Janeiro postcard :-)

Finally, some random comments. I'm digging the song titles for chapter titles - Pat Benatar was the perfect pick here. I hope there's more fighting later so you can use Hit Me With Your Best Shot too! Also did you change your profile picture recently? Cupcakes are the best!

I really felt for Lorelai in those two conversations– it really comes across well how she's so young with so much responsibility. And how young Luke just isn't in a place to be able to understand that. I'm intrigued by this new angle on their story and I'm glad you plan to continue it.

As usual, you don't disappoint. I have to say that this may be the most fun story you've written yet. I like cocky Luke and don't think that it's at all beyond the realm of possibility that "our" Luke was exactly like this at that age before his dad died. You show us flashes of the man he will become while he is still more boy than man. Also as usual, can't wait for more!

I love the way Mia was a total mama bear for Lorelai and than Lorelai echos that one the way she’s a total mama bear and protective over Rory I can’t wait to read more and I think this is the first time I’m saying this but I might actually be looking forward to seeing more Rachel in this story
