WhiteWolf100101 chapter 2 . 7/26
The chapter alert email ended up in my junk inbox, and I was distraught when I saw I missed the update!

It’s really sweet to see both Francis and Berwald take up the mantle of teacher. Alfred needs to learn the ropes of being a nation from someone, and Arthur is no longer an option. I think my favorite part of this chapter was Alfred standing up to his diplomats— the scene was just so perfect (I still want to give Alfred a great big hug). I can’t wait to see Alfred grow into a strong, confident nation!

This is the kind of historical hetalia material I live for, great so far and excited for the next part! :)

This is absolutely lovely, and prompted me to internet search some of the real history - the highest compliment I can think of for a Hetalia fic. :-).

Apparently, Spain was in the mix at this point as well, but I understand why he wasn't mentioned for logistical reasons.

I like the mix of warmth (Francis and Berwald's mentoring) and the foreshadowing regarding Russia, not only because of what we all know eventually happened and is still happening between Russia and the US, but because being of part Finnish ancestry, I'm painfully aware of what's going to happen in only a few years in the timeframe of your story - which is going to be especially painful if Alfred bonds strongly with Tino once he arrives on the scene.

Denmark's entrance was fun. I'm assuming his relationship with Sweden wasn't the greatest at this point, but since the U.S. has always been on good terms with the Nordics, this can't turn out too badly with Alfred around.

Very much looking forward to seeing where you take this. Well done.

Historical Hetalia fics are the best! I love the way that this story is written— just about every line of Alfred’s dialogue makes me want to give him a great big hug. I also loved the little call back to an earlier fic about Alfred’s love of stars! I thought it was really sweet.

It’ll be interesting to see how long Alfred remains in Europe, because the Treaty of Paris was signed in 1783! Although, since Alfred arrived in March and the treaty isn’t signed until September, six months seems an awful long time to be abroad, so perhaps the Treaty of Paris would be his second trip to Europe— I can’t imagine the treaty would be signed without him!

This was a joy to read and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
