duelist196 chapter 5 . 7/29 Hey, glad to see you're back. That rock eater does kind of remind me of Jormungandr. Same energy, I guess. By the way, it didn't really come up in this chapter, but it's worth mentioning - a light rain isn't really enough to make a Wizard wet. In Chapter 9 of the game, a light rain appears at a certain point, and they're not affected. I suspect that it needs to be a downpour to get them wet, like with their spells, or at least it'll take a while. Good to see Brownie putting some work in. Guess he wasn't satisfied with just hauling the wagon around. And I almost forgot that Performance Enhancement exists. Overall, the spells in that DLC felt a bit lackluster, at least for a Wizard. Great for an animal like Brownie, though. And Shield is honestly quite broken when you think about it. Even if it gets overpowered, it still deflects one attack, whatever it may be. IIRC, it even blocks magical effects like Charm or Confuse. "Hahaha. Undead Dragon goes boom." Lol, indeed. Nice use of a meme and Gram at the same time. Gotta love the reaction of the mages when their big, mighty fireball just disappeared. Nullify is like the ultimate Nope button when it comes to magic. Although it would also be really funny if Black used a x4 Fire x1 Shield immunity aura on himself and his allies. The fireball explodes, takes out half of the undead on the field, scorched earth everywhere... and those fuckers are just standing there, having taken literally no damage. Man, immunity auras are fun. About the rank up exam. It's understandable that they'd want to make him advance in ranks after hearing about what he's done, but my advice would be to not advance him too quickly. The rank in the guild isn't just a measure of power, after all, as can be attested by the local Slayer. It also speaks about character, dedication to the work, and other things like that that don't relate to combat ability. I do hope the party, or at least the Priestess will appear sometime soon. The story is already fun, but anything impressive that the Wizard does, sadly, just bounces off of Goblin Slayer like water off of rocks. Power is usually more fun to witness from outside perspective, and Slayer's perspective is... pretty bland, so to speak. That being said, no need to rush the story. You don't owe us anything, so just post whenever you feel like it. Anyways, good chapter. Thank you and have a good day. |
UnknownGIND chapter 5 . 7/29 Ah, you don't need to apologize, a source of inspiration for a story is a pain in the ass. This story is pretty enjoyable and the lack of Magicka story make it more precious. Sorry about my grammar. |
Guest chapter 4 . 6/30 Quick tip. Don't make goblin slayer a secondary character. It will still be nice for him to do somethings instead of just standing around. These are my own thoughts take them as you will. |
duelist196 chapter 4 . 6/30 The moment it said that the creature was big I figured it'd be a forest troll, glad I guessed correctly. It's also pretty funny to see the situations they're in, too, with the troll and the broodmother. To many adventurers, a fight against a troll or a spider queen would be the hardest fight of their life, the moment that defines their fate as a strong adventurer, but for a Magicka wizard... it's Tuesday. Or just a morning stroll. That's a clever idea with Black being able to bind his Magicks to scrolls, though. Could really come in handy for the gang in a clutch. Should probably limit it to mostly utility Magicks, though, like Invisibility, Haste, Teleport, Charm or Levitation, maybe Elemental, as already demonstrated. Probably shouldn't trust them with stuff like Chain Lightning, Thunderbolt, or, gods forbid, Thunder Storm/Vortex. While hilarious in a game where you can revive allies at the drop of a hat, potentially disastrous here. Anyway, another good chapter. Albeit kind of hoping that the plot picks up soon. No pressure, though. |
Eldar chapter 2 . 6/28 Another good chapter. Hell hath no fury if someone kills Brownie. There will be retribution of apocalyptic proportions if that happens. Can't wait for the moment when the wizard and the Lizard Priest meet, they'll be like the ultimate cheese bros. So I'm guessing that Revive not working on non-wizards(or at least on anyone who doesn't wear wizard robes, given that it did work when goblin Aristocrats used it on one another) is a story element? That's cool, if that's how you want to roll, given how cheap death becomes with it, although it can become rather problematic if the wizard ever works in a party. Even the most cautious of them are prone to occasional friendly fire, after all, and given the caliber of the spells they use, it could end badly. It's only a matter of time before they accidentaly gib a prisoner, or someone from their own team. If they can't revive anyone, they might be forced to only use simple spells most of the time, which I suppose could be a way of balancing how otherwise OP the wizards are. Maybe even serve as a demonstration for others, if they get the opportunity to watch a wizard at their strongest from a 100 meters or something, lol. And nice touch with the Stung there. I don't recall them being able to burn gobs on touch, but it's a nice addition, nonetheless. Also, it should probably not glow when the owner is sneaking around, since it would just give them away. Also, just a question, but how tall is our guy here? In game they're portrayed as being shorter than pretty much all humans around them. I kind of hope it's like that in here as well, since it really gives them that pint-sized powerhouse feel. That's about it from my ramblings. Thanks for another good chapter. |
Eldar chapter 1 . 6/27 Nice first chapter. The grammar could get improved here and there, things like saying "wizards" instead of "wizard" or "Magick" vs "Magicks", but overall it isn't too bad. Other than that, I've got two tiny gripes with Revive in this chapter: 1. Why didn't the wizards revive the villagers, surery they are capable? It's understandable if it was needed to drive the plot forward, in which case, you can say that the wizards simply forgot - it wouldn't be out of character for them. 2. Revive needing the bodies of the dead to revive them. It's minor, really, but given that Revive works even on those that have been sucked into a Vortex or deleted by Crash to Desktop, it's probably not a real restriction of the spell. Other than these to small gripes, I'm pleasantly surprised by the fic. It's not often you see a Magicka crossover these days, so I hope you'll continue this. Kinda sad it seems to have flown under the radar. Also, a few small suggestions for the future (unless they're already in chapter 2, in which case derp): 1. Summon Phoenix is a bit underrated, but actually pretty great - it can revive all alies in the radius with full health, while also bathing the casting zone in fire. Very useful. 2. Comboing QSD into SDR is one of the best basic combos in a wizard's arsenal. It takes less than a second to perform, freezes tough targets, while outright killing and shattering the weak ones. Can increase the amount of Arcane in them to make it bigger. Fast, powerful and versatile. What's not to love? 3. Hopefully M60 will make an appearance - nothing like shredding goblins with an infinite LMG. 3a. For that matter, wizards have a LOT of useful gear, depending on the situation, especially staves. If going for a jack-of-all trades staff, I'd suggest a Staff of War - turns a comparatively squishy wizard into a tank, even without the rock armor. Double health and 4x physical resistance will make a smart wizard all but untouchable(like being able to pretty much ignore bullets in the Vietnam challenge mode). Well, that about covers it. Sorry for rambling, but given that Magicka fics appear once in a blue moon, it's hard not to be enthusiastic about it. Anyway, thank you and I hope you'll make more. |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/26 This is amazing. I personally love Magicka and this just takes the cake of it all. I'm a huge fan of goblin slayer and of course Magicka. I hope you will finish this story. |
Radical chapter 1 . 6/26 Looking forward to it |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/26 Always wanted a Magicka fanfic. This just brought back memories and now I want to play the game again. Overall it's a good fanfic with a good premise. I look forward to further developments |
theforceiswithme000 chapter 3 . 6/28 Love the history |
duelist196 chapter 3 . 6/28 Just a note, but the strongest way to cast Steam Electric beam is x3 Steam, x1 Lightning and x1 Arcane, it deals 400 damage per tick, compared to 300 of the others. By the way, if he wanted to, Black could set up a couple of Elementals on the farm as security. I'm sure Farmer wouldn't be opposed to some free guards that are nigh invulnerable to anything that isn't their opposite element. I'd suggest Arcane elementals, since I doubt many people in GS world have access to offensive life spells. That is, of course, with a warning to the Farmer not to get in their attacks' arc in case of trouble, since they are kind of indiscriminate about their swinging. Anyway, good chapter, glad the fic got updated. |
