gombek69 chapter 1 . 6/26 Great short story Karen! I think I read this before on TUMBLR. Thanks for writing all these great stories. Ken |
fezzywhigg chapter 1 . 6/26 I loved it and agree. More Sarah and Ellie! Just a stray thought...about Ellie and Mary representing the extemes of Sarah. Ultra-competent normal to ultra-competent spy? |
Amelia Wolfson chapter 1 . 6/26 That was wonderful. I loved the interactions between all of them! |

uplink2 chapter 1 . 6/25 You have always had a way with writing Sarah and Ellie that no one has surpassed. It showed again here. Its one of the reasons I enjoy your writing so much. |
Guest chapter 1 . 6/25 This is one of those stories where I smile when I finish the chapter and look forward to the next one. Thanks |
Tigertod chapter 1 . 6/25 That’s why I hated the shows ending knowing full well that Ellie never would’ve left them alone in their moment of need! |
Richard76310 chapter 1 . 6/25 Agree they are great together. Also like having Devon around more. He was great in helping Chuck take it slow. |
MyNameIsJeffNImLost chapter 1 . 6/25 :) This is the best kind of Sarah after the finale. Of course she's stayed with Chuck because she was still kissing him at end. Sarah doesn't magically remember everything, but it doesn't matter. Some things were instinct, like the Wienerlicious cups and her and Chuck's beach. However being with Chuck wouldn't make her confident about the relationship. She wasn't before when she had all of her memories. She'd have the same problems after the show, only with double the insecurity. The pregnancy test is a perfect example. She didn't say hid it before and her memory erasure created even more doubts, but both times she wanted to get it right. |
PurpleAffair chapter 1 . 6/25 Not sure which I want more at the moment a Mexican Coke or to watch Aladdin. The domestic setting of this fic gave all of the warm fuzzy feelings. Uncle Chuck with little Clara was adorable. Chuck is such a sweet, silly, and youthful man of course he’s good with children. It’s the little things like his exaggerated first gulp of coke or his “But you've never had one with your charming and handsome husband, slash you're equally charming and more pretty than handsome niece.” response that brings him to life in your writing. I think I spotted a little of Ellie shining through in Clara with her shushing Chuck! It was hilariously funny in only the way a child can be. And good on Clara for doing so. There is a difference between your silly uncle reciting movie dialogue and completely talking over it. While it’s disorienting for Sarah to reconcile the time difference in her memory loss (especially in the case of Molly since she’s no longer and baby but a little kid) the implied quick reconnection in Chuck and Sarah’s relationship is a comfort. You just fucking nail Sarah’s character and all the complexities. She had her memories ‘wiped’ and had to rebuild her relationships but she’s still the woman who grew to be more verbally forthcoming with her feelings (in this case still needing a little nudging by Ellie) instead of pushing them down. Even with that growth Sarah’s natural reserved nature isn’t erased. All of that is incorporated perfectly. The slight joke-y deflection she attempts with “Are these the hormones?” Is the cherry topping to me. Ellie is such a great older sister to Chuck and Sarah. Calling Chuck a cartoon character then turning around and being Sarah’s assuring confidant, high tier older sibling move. Her unbridled joy at becoming an aunt is infectious! Telling Sarah she’ll be spoiling baby Bartowski in a way she won’t Clara had me chuckling. Special shout out to Ellie surprised shouting at Chuck for finishing his coke. It was a funny and unexpected reaction but at the same time I can picture her face and hear her voice as I read it. I’m really enjoying you posting these older one-shots. They’re a delightful rediscovery. Kudos friend! |
halfachance chapter 1 . 6/25 ugh yes bless all this. BLESS ALL THIS. you know i'm 100% here for any ellie and sarah interactions at all so this whole dang thing is just. yes. i love how it's just a brief little scene in the apartment, a couple conversations, but it's so deep, too. ellie being the perfect balance of reassuring and soft teary sister in law but still knowing why sarah was so hesitant and like, private, bc that's the kinda person she is... sarah having had that little memory come back to her and that being what's shaken her as well as general hesitance, but also wanting this to be it and not wanting that disappointment again... ooft, so well balanced. and y'know what, it also reminded me how robbed we were of 'chuck being an idiot uncle' scenes because GOD i could picture it so easily. like, of course he could quote aladdin in full, of course he'd snuggle up with his niece to watch it, of course. and of COURSE sarah would see that, see how perfect he is with kids and just know he'd be the best best father. weird, of course (i cackled at her thinking that) but such a good one! now i'm soft thinking of her getting soft over him being soft and weird ugh my heart. |
lindsdee chapter 1 . 6/25 Does this HAVE to be a one shot? I'm a sucker for a good Chuck and Sarah become parents story. |
