As always, you can deliver a chapter. I'm happy with how things went down in the chamber. Dumbledore has clearly been playing with not quite a full deck. I like the buildup to a bigger picture going on, but I do think that Hermione should have found something on how magic affects relationships by now. Surely something so integral wouldn't be kicked into the restricted section. Last thing is since Harry is a parselmouth and fine with breaking rules, hatching a couple basilisks in the chamber would be awesome. They don't have to stay there. I'm sure the Rust district could use some extra protection. With Basilisk extended life spans I'm sure it would take at least 20 years to get up to even a quarter of its true size(so start early). That's one of the biggest powers known of parselmouths to communicate and thus control Basilisks. I hate to say it but Parselmouths can speak to them so Hagrid is right they are just misunderstood(actually loved to say it). If I could do it I'd be all over it. Getting it food might be a problem so two basilisks seems best. Just like dogs they need a friend and then they won't go crazy. Oohhh he could get Dobby to hatch them and claim he found them in stasis under the school. That way he'd be able to say under truth serum if necessary that he didn't hatch them. Honestly the rooster crow thing is pretty dumb. Maybe the sun would make more sense as a weakness. If touched by true sunlight a basilisk will turn to stone just like they turn others to stone. It's totally not necessary for your story I just love the idea.

I liked the build up. You did very well setting the stage. I think that even with the cover ups Harry should have found a way to make the adults do it. A killing gaze is too dangerous not to try avoiding. Perhaps these compulsions that prevent speaking to outsiders have affected Harry more than he thought. I agree with how Myrtle behaved however I think you're thinking a little inside the box on how the chamber could have been kept secret. Myrtle just saw yellow eyes by the sink. Without a parseltongue an investigation could very well have been stumped right there with strong enough enchantments and wards. It's not like a founder known for their cunning couldn't have pulled off magic complex enough to hide the chamber. Can't wait for the boss battle next chapter.

Hey, i've found your story on the other site, and i'm currently on chapter 10 there, however, their has barely been any magic, any magic learning and mostly about people their thoughts and their behaviours... Does it pick up at all, because i'd rather it not start getting to spells in chapter 25, especially when in the first chapter you mentioned Harry has a thirst for learning and will know how to apply it... Every time you mentioned Hermione being in the library, and harry still hasn't even gone there. So how does he have a thirst for knowledge?

Haha. Yeah, Hermione didn't have to get with Harry, but she and Ron have literally no chemistry. Honestly wished I hadn't read the last couple books after seeing the epilogue and realizing that being with Ron hadn't made her realize she was a lesbian.
