I got two creatures for you. One helpful and the other evil. Angels, and the Hydra.

if I had to give suggestions or ideas

rake: camping in the woods for three last day of high schoolers goes wrong

death or grim reaper: similar to hellhound,but I'd imagine various sinarios anywhere for the person being close to death, and see the reaper.
